Room clean. Beds extremely comfortable. Most staff extremely helpful and friendly. Would have preferred a sea view rather that the car park view.

Lovely room with a sea view

Another Mercure up to its usual high standard. Would have been full marks other than 2 wee niggles. One was within the hotel's control, the other wasn't. Some guests aren't considerate of others. There was a lot of loud music being played later in the evening despite noticed in the lifts asking for consideration of others. The plates for hot food at breakfast need to be hit otherwise the food becomes cold quite quickly. Your staff were efficient, friendly and hard working.

Very well located

No big issues. One way systems not rigidly enforced, surprised rooms were cleaned daily (especially as information said they wouldn't be. Need to sort the lift doors - the close far to quickly and are vicious!

Upon arrival it was a shame to see cigarette butts all outside the entrance where smokers congregated. Check-in was efficient. However, when we got to our room things went downhill. It was obvious that the room had not been thoroughly cleaned as there was dust on most surfaces, bits on the floors, the toilet had a condom in it and excrement around the sides. We found a fake (joke) pooh on the skirting board and the mirror was smeared. I rang reception and they sent a housekeeper to the room to clean it. The assistant manager then arrived to apologise and told us the condition we had found it in was unacceptable and that the staff member concerned had been suspended. He also said we would not be charged for our stay. The cost of the room has been refunded.

Received an email prior to visit explaining covid safety measures that they have in place. Welcoming friendly staff, who also explained measures plus signs through out hotel that made you feel safe as people where aware and following guidelines. Room was lovely and clean, we had dinner on first night(part of the deal) which was really nice, breakfast was well organised and staff very helpful. Already planning our next trip.

Great stay , handy town and beach location

We regularly stay at this hotel, the recent refurbishment has been tastefully done with fresh colours and furnishings to the reception lounge bar and restaurant areas giving a very pleasing contemporary feel to the hotel. The room we stayed in, a classic double with sea view was very clean and comfortable with a super king size bed. The staff provided a wonderful services, and food was of a good enjoyable standard. Would highly recommend this hotel.

I know things have only just started back up again but I really think that Accor’s time would have been better spent by simply bulldozing this hotel and starting again. Everything is tired and no different really than it was years ago. From non working safe, broken toilet seat, grotty bathroom (and this was a superior room, ha ha) and a general feel of being down at heel it really isn’t a pleasant place to be, oh and parking is not cheap either. If you are considering a meal option save your money and go next door to Smiths where you will find a far better experience. All in all the only positive thing was that the staff were very good and did make up for things somewhat. Overall, stay somewhere else unless you get a very good price.

Well located. Would have liked more details in advance about how to access the car park

Let's do the positive bits first - the sole member of staff that I saw was quite frankly a credit to this hotel and the Mercure/Accor chain. Your people are your best asset and this is no exception. The bad bits... Reception area looks tired and dated. Hotel communal areas are tired and dated. Bedroom was tired and dated - wallpaper peeling off the wall or small bits missing, paint chipped absolutely everywhere, decor quite frankly needs updating, and the windows or at minimum the window seals need replacing! Ayr is on the coast, so it gets a continual barrage of wind and even on a moderate wind night (30-35mph winds - I checked), the noise of the wind bypassing the missing and badly fitting seals left me with just 4 hours of broken sleep out of the 9 that I was trying to be asleep in bed. If it wasn't for the fact that the lady on reception was so nice, and the fact that I'd relaxed with 2 beers, I'd have asked for a refund and left during the night! (Drink/Drive alcohol limit is lower in Scotland than England/Wales by the way). I basically had no choice but to stay. Will definitely not stay again until they renovate the hotel... Including new glazing.

Good quality hotel in central location

Had a weekend break here and thoroughly enjoyed. Having stayed in a few hotels post lockdown I thought that the arrangements here, especially breakfast, was the best that we had encountered. Staff were very friendly. Room comfortable with a cracking view out to sea.

Dear guest Thank you very much for your kind feedback. I am delighted you enjoyed your stay with us and lookforward to seeing you back in the near future. Kind regards Lindsay
