Stay at Mercure Ayr Hotel for one night on the 9th May 2021 on a wowcher deal. Check in was easy girl on reception was extremely helpful explained hotel covid rules and where everything was. Room was lovely very spacious with sea view. Only had breakfast in the hotel which was very nice. Will definitely use this hotel again.

Room was clean and spacious with excellent sea view with hotel in ideal central location. Check in experience was poor with a very dry attitude from staff, clearly upset that I interrupted their conversation with their colleague. Covid signage confusing, arrows pointing to the left but saying 'keep right'. Evening meal starters and mains were well portioned and good quality but let down by the service from the restaurant manager that we were clearly an inconvenience to. Had to return one dessert as it was clearly off by the sour taste, no apology or resolution from any of the staff. Breakfast was a good offering under Covid restrictions and well managed. Thankfully checking out was a better experience with a different member of staff who's friendlier and welcoming manner changed the experience and was the first apology offered for the poor standard food. This was my 5th time staying at hotel but will now not necessarily be my first choice if returning to the area again.

My daughter and I stayed overnight for dinner, bed & breakfast. The food was lovely, the staff were all really pleasant and helpful, we were just a bit disappointed in the room, it was quite tired and needed decorated. The beds were very comfortable although the pillows were quite hard, however the room and bathroom were spotless. We enjoyed our stay, we will definitely be back, thank you!

We stayed at the mercure for 2 nights and were put in a room on 6th floor with a sea view. This was a great surprise as it offered amazing views especially at sunset. We had a great stay. The hotel was clean and staff very friendly. Breakfast was also really nice with lots of choices.

Comfortable big room, disappointed pool , sauna steam room etc was still closed. Covid measures were effective. Staff all excellent friendly and helpful. Breakfast excellent. Dinner average selection.

Booked in for a 2 day break with my wife, for a bit of relaxation. Location was great, Covid rules were well implemented, hotel staff very friendly. Room we were in had a nice big bed, but not too comfy. All clean and not as tired as some reviews have stated previously. Had breakfast one day, which was fab, but unfortunately, missed the 2nd one, as we had to leave unexpectedly due to bad news from home. Will come back to this hotel, once all the Covid implementations have been lifted, and look forward to enjoying a drink or too at the bar, which had a nice inviting area to sit around.

Let's do the positive bits first - the sole member of staff that I saw was quite frankly a credit to this hotel and the Mercure/Accor chain. Your people are your best asset and this is no exception. The bad bits... Reception area looks tired and dated. Hotel communal areas are tired and dated. Bedroom was tired and dated - wallpaper peeling off the wall or small bits missing, paint chipped absolutely everywhere, decor quite frankly needs updating, and the windows or at minimum the window seals need replacing! Ayr is on the coast, so it gets a continual barrage of wind and even on a moderate wind night (30-35mph winds - I checked), the noise of the wind bypassing the missing and badly fitting seals left me with just 4 hours of broken sleep out of the 9 that I was trying to be asleep in bed. If it wasn't for the fact that the lady on reception was so nice, and the fact that I'd relaxed with 2 beers, I'd have asked for a refund and left during the night! (Drink/Drive alcohol limit is lower in Scotland than England/Wales by the way). I basically had no choice but to stay. Will definitely not stay again until they renovate the hotel... Including new glazing.
