Good stay. Every thing was excellent. I have just comment. The temperature of the shower water never stabilized, and kept fluctuating.

I booked a 5 night birthday celebration and respite due to the bereavement of my mother , adding breakfast, early and late checkout. Had we not have driven 7 hours to get there and had pre booked activities paid for in Edinburgh and the surrounding areas I would have left immediately! No pool facilities- as advertised and depicted on hotel overview and images - we were not the only customers to point this out in our stay. The facilities being the main reason I booked. We were upgraded due to this inconvenience- staff stating that hey had pointed this out to management many times. Room was very basic, outdated decor, minimal storage, shower tray that did not drain, which we reported and were told, yes that happens we will supply more towels to soak the overflow! Absolutely awful! We had to time a 4 minute shower and tread carefully when getting out! House keeping - amenities not replenished, daily, shower gel, constantly had to ask for tea/coffee/milk of which they ran out of! And towels to soak the shower overflow! No ventilation in room, windows dripping with water and puddles on windowsill . Hotel food - breakfast- Luke warm, not replenished, run out of pastries, coffee machines broke down. Lunch/dinner menu very basic, the same daily and overpriced. Was even charged an additional 10% on drink because we were sitting in restaurant area, Outrageous! We ate out at the many eateries in the area, that had vast menus and were fairly priced. Externally- it snowed on our visit- it took 24 hours before any grit/salt was put out - no consideration for customer safety. On our final day our room was rudely walked into by one of the maintenance workers, did not even knock, my partner was in the shower and I was in the room. I opened the door to ask what was happening and why he had just let himself in, to which he did apologise, he had wanted to put new furniture in the room. This was the tip of the iceberg for us, so instead of leaving at 6 to start our long drive home, we packed up there and then at 10am! Extremely Overpriced 5 night stay for a very basic room and hotel, would have been better off booking a travelodge!

Staff are lovely Breakfast is excellent, great choice of food. Our room was in need of refurbishment; curtains are falling apart, carpet is stained, lots of lightbulbs not working, windows needed cleaning. Wallpaper is peeling in places. Nice toiletries and towels
