Friendly yet professional service from all the staff throughout our stay. Reception staff always helpful. Clean well equipped en-suite bedroom, comfortable beds. Nice bar and restaurant, with superb service from both bar and restaurant staff. Excellent breakfast together with a Simple yet varied evening menu, Very good food every time. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The stay in the Mercure Livingston Hotel was reasonably comfortable. Minor issues had to do with not being able to open the window (believe that they were screwed permanently). Not sure if there was any air conditioning in the room but it felt very stuffy in the mornings. The toilet paper was of very low quality and not in keeping with the grade of the hotel! Finally, the website claimed that Edinburgh was 10 mins by car from the hotel. In fact, it was almost 35 mins when there was no traffic!!

The good: the room was quiet and had everything we needed. Staff at the restaurant were friendly and helpful. The location was convenient for getting into Edinburgh without paying Edinburgh prices. The bad: wifi didn't work, half the TV channels didn't work or worked for a while and then everything would get scrambled. I did make a member of staff aware of these issues after the first night and I'm not convinced he actually understood the problems at all. They certainly weren't fixed. Staff we dealt with at check-in and check-out were also on the surly side. Our keycards stopped working after the first night and had to be reset. Finally, the room smelled very unpleasant, as if it had long needed a deep cleaning it had never received. I wouldn't stay at this hotel again.

No internet, TV reception weak to non existent, shower integral with bath not elderly accessable safely, hence wife unable to use. Poor value for rates charged.
