Dated hotel and looks worn out

Nice warm welcome, nice freindly staff, We had a big problem ? First day ? The sink in the bathroom took a long time to drain ? and the bath ? Mentioned it, was asked was the toilet working ? Later on the sink, gritty gunk, came up !! Reported it to the reception desk !! Told someone would have a look ! Was smelly, next day, we were going out ! Asked what was going to happen with the sink ?? Someone will have a look, was the toilet working !! we got back !! We had stayed out as long as we could !! no it was the same, I went to reception desk, it was again reported again asked was the toilet working !! will be seen first thing ? I asked again at 11am, Inthe afternoon a man from maintinince finally came ?? No one had informed them there was a problem !! No communication !! In the midst of covid ?? To wash your hands, is the sink not of importance !! Could not shower till pluming was sorted. Had to wait till house keeping came, I asked how often the beds were changed, I was told at this time only when asked, I said then. I am asking, the room was cleaned ? We had already extended our stay, from two nights booked !! adding two at the reception desk !! Nearly left early !! Not a nice experience !!

Overpriced food and drinks

The room was ok, comfy enough, but not in great condition; carpet was taped in places, dusty skirts, dados, corners. The food at dinner was very poor and really overpriced- the buttermilk chicken resembled a Birdseye chicken burger, at £16.50 I expect proper buttermilk chicken ie succulent chicken breast with a tasty coating. All other meals in our group below standard and the service was very slow. Half past eight we sat down; by the time we’d finished our main course it was too late to order sweet, why they would shut the kitchen whilst customers are still dining is beyond me. Overall the food was gastro pub prices with supermarket cafe quality. You really need to change and improve the menu and quality Drinks were ridiculously overpriced; you’re a three star out of town hotel; you have no right charging those prices I highly doubt I will ever use your hotel chain again

I had to complain to get moved rooms. When booking I requested an upgraded room that I would pay for but when we arrived there was none available. I was told the reception staff hadn't passed this on. Initially we had room 265 and the carpet was in a very poor state, the tables were in poor condition and there was a bashed lampshade. We were told by Stephan that we could move room and receive 2 complimentary drinks vouchers when swapping rooms at reception. We did not receive any vouchers. The stay was a gift for my 40th birthday and it wasn't so special.

Basically a temporary housing shelter with a bar

Place is getting old and tired. Lots of temporary homeless put up there by the local authority. Lots of noise, and the smell of weed permeates the corridors. Pool advertised as open, but not. Food was ok, but bar prices were high. Kinda knew it was a bit crap but it was convenient and available, but not cheap.

I had phoned ahead to make sure that breakfast was offered early as we had an early sports event. Luckily I also put that in my "stay requirements" as when I arrived I was told that breakfast started later than I had been told on the phone. The receptionist said she would make sure it was going to be ok and it was. :-) The rooms were clean and tidy but the decor is dated now. The hall corridors can really do with silent closing on them as I was wakened several times by the door banging.

The girls were brilliant, friendly and accommodating. The big guy with the beard behind the desk at reception was a total jobs worth and downright rude on occasion.

Shocking, Fully understand the need to take in DSS but not for the staff denying they are there, while the hotel stinks of cannabis morning, noon and night. Never will I stay at a mercur again. Very tired, not exactly clean and very unloved.

Late checkout and do not disturb ignored

I paid for £20 extra for late checkout (6 PM). At 11 AM there was knocking on the door and a man's voice sternly telling me this was reception and I needed to vacate the room. (The do not disturb tag was on the door.) I was on a business trip and had worked all night arriving back in my room at 6 AM.

All was ok, however, we were disappointed that the swimming pool was closed. It wasn’t made clear at the time of booking. Staff was nice and polite.

The rooms were dated but clean. Cost of food and drink is overly priced for the standard of hotel. Not enough staff on at breakfast meaning the waitto be seated, unreliable to take your order to get correct, ranout of certain cereals, sausages, fresh fruit and yoghurts both days of our stay. Good location for shops

A very dated hotel needs an update. Great to have a sit down breakfast but very small portions my college counted 8 beans in a small tub and I had to ask for 2 rounds of toast as they were going to give me 1. when I asked for a grilled tomato I got half of one. I think they need to think about what someone wants for breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay had our dinner there it was great however the breakfast was disappointing the eggs were really hard couldn’t eat it it certainly wasn’t fresh been sitting to long.the hotel could do with a refurbish.

we have stayed at the Mercure Livingston 3 times before,but this time we were so disappointed its unlikely we shall stay there again there were 2 functions on the 2 nights we stayed there and every table and siting down chair were taken as I am disabled we had to return to our room to find a seat when we asked for seating e were told there was non available,but the room and breakfast were good
