I have stayed at the Mercure several times , pre pandemic , during restriction and more recently level 0 conditions. I have always found the staff very friendly , helpful and very professional whilst working in sometimes difficult conditions during this difficult period for the hospitality industry

We have stayed at Mercure Livingston on numerous occasions mainly on the 2 night Itison deal and have been very satisfied on previous visits. We use it mainly for the shopping experience of the nearby centre. It appears a bit dated and I had hoped they had made use of the lockdown period to update the rooms. The electricity in our room failed a few hours after arrival which necessitated packing up our stuff again and moving rooms after our evening meal as there was nobody available to fix it. But these things happen I suppose. However, what we did experience was that it was being used as a residence for the homeless. Whilst I have nothing against this practice forewarning would have been greatly appreciated. There was a lot of movement between rooms, talking in corridors and internal calls between rooms till the early hours. Room phones ringing at 2.30am when no occupants answered was quite disturbing. We were advised by reception to phone and report this if it happened on the 2nd night. Luckily it was "slightly" quieter. Also on the first night one of the residents (who was clearly on substances of some sort?) was staggering about the hotel corridors and reception staff had to constantly keep an eye on his behaviour and movements. We had our 5yr old grandson with us who we were concerned about being in this environment. The one 5* positive of our stay was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they were friendly and efficient in every way. The weather was glorious on our stay and the seating out in the gardens enhanced our experience greatly. I'm sure we will return in the future but I will make sure I ask more relevant questions before our next visit.

room was stinking of smoke as soon as I entered, I about turned and went back to reception where the receptionist apologised, said she knew the room next to mine was the same, but hadn't been informed of this room, she then tried to find me a different room. the only room available was a twin which I accepted as I didn't want to go back to the smoke stench. the 1st room had been serviced and beds made etc so the housemaid must have known this was uninhabitable. poor service

Hotel full of drunken idiots.

Hotel full of drunks walking round corridors slamming doors and knocking on there mates doors and drinking out in the corridors most nights I stayed. I had a few altercations as I challenged them but just got lip! Definitely won't be returning to your hotel ever again and will discourage anyone who asks. You need to get a grip of this before someone gets seriously hurt. Install cameras at each corner of the floors!!

Full of drug addicts and homeless people

We were unaware until evening after being told by the homeless people themselves. Twice during the night our door was tried and the receptionist was shouting at someone to get away from our door

Our door key wasn’t working. We had to go to reception 3 times before it was fixed. The same evening it wasn’t working again and my daughter had to go to reception again. At breakfast on the second morning a group of about six girls came in after me. My breakfast order was taken but my drink, toast and cutlery didn’t come. In the meantime the girls were getting all their drinks etc brought to their table. My breakfast arrived and I still didn’t have any cutlery, hot drink etc. She did apologise but it was still poor service.

Sharp receptionist! No notice on Accor website that gym closed which is the sole purpose of booking that particular hotel. First choice off menu not available, wasn’t advised when seated. Room tired.

Very disappointed.. booked here so my daughter (13) and I could use the pool etc. No correspondence to say it was closed prior to our arrival!! On checking in I asked and the receptionist said it was closed for maintenance. Room requires upgrading.. had a smell to it. Bathroom also had a smoke smell to it. Certainly wouldn’t come back

A great location to asdas and the shopping centre. Easy to get to. Plenty parking.

We originally booked this hotel as had swim and leisure facilities, to be told they aren't in use and don't know when was disappointing as by then couldn't cancel. This should be stated on website so no one else feels disappointed when arrives. Room was basic, bed was comfortable enough. Radiator didn't work phoned to say but still didn't work after several attempts. No iron so tried trouser press which didn't work either. Only toilet roll on roll so had to ask for more. Wasn't keen on food. Ordered chicken burger and chicken tasted slimy, like it had been reheated, I couldn't eat. Also I felt rushed, only just finished starter and main came. Also didn't feel there was much choice. At breakfast also was just digging into continental when cooked breakfast came. Had to hold and eat cereal in hands so hot food can be put on table. Tea/latte was lukewarm also. Staff were friendly and polite. Just overall wasn't the best experience. Booked threw itison, so really felt we didn't get the most for our money. We would have stayed at a much cheaper place, given we knew all the ins and outs.

Great location for shopping centre

It was really easy to get to designer outlet in a wheelchair. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Only downside was accessible room, in bathroom the W.c. was very low level, not raised so made it difficult to get up. Room was nice and quiet. Bed was VERY firm but lovely white sheets.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was nice, clean and comfortable. I would have liked to enjoyed the swimming pool but it was closed due to a leakage, which was disappointing.

As it was our Son's birthday we were looking for somewhere to stay in the Edinburgh area. There was an Itison deal available. The booking was efficient (despite some changes which had to be made over the voucher) which could have complicated things. When we got to the holed everything was efficient.teh staff were friendly and helpful. Despite the Covid situation we felt quite safe and secure. The room was clean. When we went for our evening meal the service was efficient and helpful and the Covid precautions while efficient were not that onerous. Breakfast was good and more than adequate. Definitely good value and a pleasant stay. Highly recommended

A very dated hotel needs an update. Great to have a sit down breakfast but very small portions my college counted 8 beans in a small tub and I had to ask for 2 rounds of toast as they were going to give me 1. when I asked for a grilled tomato I got half of one. I think they need to think about what someone wants for breakfast.

We enjoyed our stay had our dinner there it was great however the breakfast was disappointing the eggs were really hard couldn’t eat it it certainly wasn’t fresh been sitting to long.the hotel could do with a refurbish.
