Staff amazing top quality customer service room was spotless breakfast amazing again loads to choose from. Even offered to help if needed. Staff could not do enough to help even my nephew got offered so sweets at check which was a lovely gesture Beds so comfortable Grounds look lovely and I am guessing look even better in the spring and summer Well done

Poor standard, poor value for money

We booked a 'Privilege' room, anticipating a better standard than a 'Classic' or 'Superior Suite'. Unfortunately, the room well past its 'sell by' date. The furniture was scratched, chipped and broken, the desk chair seat had all but collapsed, the basin was cracked in several places, the bath panel was loose and damaged, the lighting was inadequate and, at the bedside, was out of easy reach, there was only one usable socket to charge a phone/iPad. It felt dirty although I don't think it necessarily was. Probably due to its overall condition. Generally v.poor standard for the money. The breakfast was however good. Leaves a lot of room for improvement. Wouldn't recommend or stay there again.

In summary their wedding coordinator wrecked my wedding day. We got married on the 20th of July 2024. We went on the Wednesday before as we had a lot of decorations to bring, the hotel had said they'd store for us. so we didn't have to bring them on the day. When we turned up there was 2 tipi's on the lawn, exactly where we had agreed to put out bouncy castle. We asked if these would be down before the wedding to be told they were a permanent fixture. We were upset as we weren't informed of these tipi's. The hotel wedding coordinator and general manager told us from time to time the hotel will change its aesthetic look and make improvements. We were then offered the tipi's we declined as we had already paid for the room and didn't want tipi's. The wedding coordinator then turned and said to the master of ceremonies "good luck with these two your gonna need it". I tried to explain to her that I'm not trying to be difficult but when this happens a few days before your wedding and your being unreasonable and not informing us of it you'd be upset, especially when I'd been looking forward to this all year and paid alot of money. When we told the general manager of this he didn't even apologise for his staffs behaviour or even try to make it better. We asked if we could set up the room the night before but we're told no because they had a last minute reservation for the room. However they would be out by 5pm and in the tipi's. So they would let us have the room at midnight. We were really upset that this last minute corporate event took president over a wedding. On the day of the wedding we arrived the drinks on arrival were not ready, and neither were the canapés. the canapés were only served to inside guests but our guests were inside and outside so many guests didn't get any. The hotel rooms were poorly organised which resulted in guests rooms not being allocated , and keys cards not working correctly. Due to where the tipi's were I had to walk further than I can (I'm disabled and can't walk far) which then resulted in pain and discomfort for the rest of the day. The hotel staff were well aware that Iam disabled as when we booked the wedding I was still in a wheelchair, unable to walk at all. At the point of the wedding day I was still in recovery. The wedding breakfast was not as good as what we had, had on our taster day. The roast potatoes were like rocks, dry and burnt yorkshire puddings, and the pudding was nothing like what we tried. We were really upset about this as it was something we were looking forward to. The day after the wedding when we went to leave we were wacked with a massive bill for the drinks on arrival that we had paid for in November the previous year as it was included in our package. They had to ring around and then said it was a mistake. As we were leaving the tipi's were being taken down. I got the owners number off one of their staff. I contacted the owner when I got home to be told that the tipi's were infact just hired for the corporate event on the Friday before our wedding. So again a corporate event took president over a wedding. The owner said that the hotel should not of offered us the tipi's to use as we didn't have a contract with them, and neither did the hotel. So if anything had been damaged we wouldn't of been covered under his insurance. The owner sincerely apologised and said if he knew I had my wedding on the Saturday he would of collected them earlier. So this was an unlawful act of the hotel and poorly organised. A few days later the wedding coordinator rang us up to say 5 rooms were unpaid for. My cousin had 3 rooms she had cancelled directly with the hotel 6 weeks prior to the wedding. 1 room a guest was told he was not allocated a room so he got a taxi home. The last room was cancelled again. None of the guests were asked to pay a deposit and we said in all emails that we were not responsible for rooms, that the guests were paying for themselves. We argued these points and eventually the hotel manager said don't worry it's our mistake. All these things made our big day stressful to the point where we really didn't enjoy it. I would not recommend at all, very poor service. Not how I envisioned my wedding at all. I paid thousands for this wedding for it to be sabotaged by their wedding coordinator.

Although our room was a little dated, it was also very clean, spacious and warm. The staff here are WONDERFUL. Food is plentiful and delicious. This visit was a Christmas present, but we would definitely book of our own accord in future. Many thanks to all concerned.

A lovely afternoon tea

We came for afternoon tea, we were greeted by a lovely woman on reception and were seated in an area where there were people having work meetings, we initially thought this was just a waiting area and that we would be shown to a cosy dining room but we weren't. The afternoon tea came out and was presented beautifully, all the food was really tasty, I really enjoyed the selection of sandwiches, and there was a lovely selection of cakes and Scones with cream and Jam. My husband chose to have a pot of tea with his and I opted for a coffee, which was a bit too bitter for my taste so I'd choose to have tea next time. The staff were attentive and we enjoyed having time to ourselves, my only suggestion would be to host the afternoon tea in a cosy area.
