Our room was on the first floor with no lift for access. As we are in our mid to late seventies staff were very happy to carry our baggage up for us. Tea and coffee facilities were poor, sachets left inside the mugs we needed to use. Rooms were not serviced during our stay, a point not made clear on arrival, probably because the receptionist was new to the job. We had to contact staff to ask for a hairdryer, new batteries for the T V remote control, and fresh towels when required. Breakfasts were good but people had to constantly ask for items to be replenished. All staff encountered were friendly and helpful and dealt with issues immediately. We felt they were overstretched.

Rooms are dated, bed and pillows not comfortable . Staff were pleasant. A good variety for breakfast. Drinks are too expensive. Good location for the park and ride.

We have 10 beds and mattresses on order from May but still not delivered due to the shortages of drivers, the same situation with pillows and duvets - all in the pipe line to be delivered. Our plan was to open hotel in July with all new bedding but we still waiting for supply. I am so sorry again that your stay was not as good as you were expecting. I stayed with my husband and 9 year old for a few days in beautiful York. The hotel is fabulous and has an art deco feel especially the grand reception area. We checked in, the lady was lovely. Two friendly gents served us drinks at the bar which we drank on the grass in the beautiful sunshine looking over the gardens. The room was spotless. The breakfast was one of the best we've had in a hotel. Highly recommended! Thank you for all your hard work.

We had 1 nights stay here on the 21st of july. The hotel was lovely and the weather was absolutely stunning which ment we didnt actually spend much time in the hotel. The room was big and clean with big windows which helped with the very warm weather. However the room was quiet dated and needed updating but keeping inline with the beautiful building. The breakfast was lovely plenty to choose from and not rushed at all

I booked through Accor directly and arrived at the hotel at 11am hoping to check in early, but not expecting my room to be available until later. The receptionist couldn't find my booking and used the reference on my email confirmation. She told me to return after 3pm and then said she'd make a note that I wouldn't be back until around 9pm. I arrived back earlier than expected, staying alone with two children. The hotel had no record of my booking, and my booked room was unavailable. I was given an alternate room. My worry was that as a woman travelling alone with two children, had I returned later, there may have been no room available. The issue could have and should have been resolved at 11am.

Lovely hotel, rooms are a bit dated but in keeping with the time period of the hotel. Although the staff are friendly and helpful the breakfast was disappointing there was little to no food and the staff had to be prompted to get more brought out, coffee machine didn't work and no plates or glasses. Would have scored the hotel higher if the breakfast wasn't so disappointing.

Anna on desk attentive evening and morning. Barman looked worn out once we had got him out of the storeroom or whatever it is. Room "tired". Large,yes, but would rather have half the size and looking "fresh". Bathroom really needs attention, particularly given price paid (Mercure a few days before was nearly half the price).

Some lovely design features particularly staircases and dining room. All the staff we met were very professional and polite. The free drinks voucher offered on arrival was especially well received. The room was a large suite but on the main road side of the hotel and as the weather was unusually hot we needed the window open which was noisy. Air conditioning in these rooms would be very welcome. The shower was also difficult to regulate temperature. Great breakfast though.

Not to the standard I expected for the price

It is a very outdated hotel, with a definite need for an upgrade. It was not worth £250 that we paid for the 2 nights, even more so when I was informed by a local taxi driver that only 2 weeks ago it was being used by the government to house detainees. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the pillows were not up to the standard I would have expected. The fan in the en-suite was very noisy and took ages to stop. The only good comments I could make were that it was close to the wedding we were attending, it seemed clean and the breakfast was lovely. Overall though Very disappointing as it was my husband and I’s first weekend away since the start of the pandemic and my experience of York previously has always been amazing.

Easy to get to and lovely grounds

The place is lovely but there was a few issues with our stay, 1. The carpet is raised up in the reception/bar area and I am concerned that someone might trip over on it. 2. Difficulty opening and shutting the bedroom window. 3. Disappointed that the leisure facilities were not on site and had to travel 2 miles to use them. 4. New staff, not trained fully to deal with clients. 5. The dining facilities were not up to standard, we were given a menu for the evening meal and a lot of the dishes were not available, we were told it was due to a delivery failure. 6. The breakfast was very good, self service. 7. The bed was very comfortable.

The hotel was fine,good rooms and nice area.The only fault was the evening meal,on arrival we couldnt book a meal on the first night before 8pm and second night before 8-30.On arrival at the restaurant it was full with a coach party and we were put in a small claustrophobic side room.The staff were wonderfull but not enough of them.Food was good but one of the main reasons for a hotel visit is to have a pleasant evening meal without having to drive

All very nice for the three day stay. Comfortable rooms, good size, good bathroom, window that can open, good breakfast and restaurant. Wifi good and reliable. Out of town but not a problem. Local buses to/from York across the road, park and ride 10 minute walk away and a good pub and carvery 5 minutes walk away. Taxis prompt. Any problems? No, staff and services were all excellent.

Room was good in term of cleaniness and size. A bit far from the city, but it was ok since we had a car. Breakfast was good; there were variety to choose from, incl. fruit and hot breakfast. Staff was very friendly.
