Pleasant stay in a charming hotel where staff were courteous and helpful at all times. Bit of updating with flooring wouldn’t go amiss as felt this let the team down somewhat. Great location and a decent breakfast.

i was surprised to see such a poor quality hotel. The carpets were filthy and well worn. After all the lockdown one would have expected it to be clean.

A little pricy for one night but the location was good and great to be able to park at the hotel as we have a young child. Would stay again

We were booked as a party of 8 girls for a special birthday. On arrival at the hotel we found out that our rooms were on 3 different floors, so not near each other. This was explained as twin rooms are not all located on the same floor, which I accept, however, this should have explained on booking, perhaps then we could have made a decision on whether those happy to share a double room did. Also, we had to book breakfast for the next morning on arrival, when trying to book we were told that weren't enough seats to seat us all at 10am as the tables are split into 2's and there wasn't enough space for us all. Again, as a party booked for a special birthday this was disappointing. So 2 people were told they had to breakfast 30 minutes after all the other's. The next morning we all went down at 10am and the dining Hall was near empty and we all managed to eat at the same time, although we were split onto tables of two, which was fine. However, the breakfast was very disappointing for some. The hotel lobby has had a nice upgrade recently and thw rooms were clean, although twin rooms are very small, if you were a larger person sharing a room you would have found it difficult to maneuver into the bathroom in the night without having to swing a leg over the other bed. There was a lack of plug sockets, in fact only 2 in the room, and the lamp was plugged into one, yet sockets in other parts of the room where covered? No bottled water in the room, which most hotels supply as standard for this cost. The front of the building could do with a lick of paint and refresh to make it stand out. I would say the location is good in the sense that it is away from the hustle and bustle of the lively lanes, being 10 minutes walk away and it is seafront location (remember to request Seaview if you want to see it), but as far as service is concerned the hotel does need a little work, and some updating of the rooms to make them more easy to use would be good. Perhaps we just had a very small awkward shaped room, but 2 plug sockets (not including the one the TV was plugged into), really isn't enough.

Good hotel, brilliant location. Parking was quite expensive but glad it had parking, room could have been a bit cleaner (stains on net curtains and bathroom ceiling a bit mouldy), and the plug in the bath was initially stuck and was told by reception to ‘hit it hard’ rather than them coming up to look at it and resolve the issue. Good stay, would probably stay again but not in the mews rooms

Our stay was neither relaxing or successful. You advertise as a hotel with parking yet we arrived to the car park being full and told to go find somewhere else to park. There wasn’t even space for us to pull up and get our bags out so had to lug our bags back and forth from the closest available parking a 10 minute walk away. When we finally got into our small room, the radiator was on full blast. We turned this off and went out to return to the radiator still on hours later. I called reception about this where the man turned this all the way up, making it even hotter! It was impossible to turn the radiator off and we were told to just deal with it. This resulted in an awful night sleep, but not to worry, we got up the next day to see some more of Brighton. We freshened up.....or at least we tried to freshen up but there was no hot water, only freezing cold water that pretty much just trickled down the wall. You couldn’t even get your body under any water source to have a wash. To add to that and the boiling hot room, there was another heat source in the mirror for some reason. Not only were we unable to clean ourselves after a sweating hot night, we continued to sweat in the bathroom and the room. I’m surprised we didn’t pass out from the endurance test Mercure imposed upon us. And all for the cheap sum of....oh wait, £260 per night! Insane.

I came with my two daughters. Old towels were left in our room and I reported it twice but they were still there on my departure. Room 208. The restaurant manager on the Wednesday morning was v cross with my daughter for spilling juice on the table. I appreciate it was a real pain but he was v cross. The young staff were excellent and obliging in particular Ben.

Nice hotel. Small but nicely decorated room. Lacks basic facilities. No charging ports. Only one double socket. Poor ventilation room hot at night. No air con. Fan provided but lack of socket to position so effective an issue. Inland view translated “no view and minimal daylight “ window obscured and frosted. Bathroom tiny but functional. For what we paid expected more.

A Good Stay

This was booked from Virgin Experience. The booking process could have been improved as no email confirmation for booking, so i was a little nervous and had to check with hotel directly before we left to confirm booking. Becky on reception is fabulous both before we arrived and during check in. I explained i needed a room with air con and she arranged that for me, very lovely manner and an asset to the hotel. The hotel was in a great location at the less touristy side of the beach near the burnt pier. The atmosphere on the beach front was really nice. The hotel was decorated very well and it was clean. The breakfast was good and plenty selection. A slight negative was the bed was too hard for me but thats my personal choice, so i didnt have a great nights sleep. My husband on the other hand slept very well. Parking was easy, we parked at the front of the hotel. But parking charge of £25 shocked my husband, he thought it would be free as we were on hotel grounds. Anyway all in all we had an excellent visit to Brighton and a good stay at the hotel.

We finally made our visit to this hotel some 18minths after booking it. The hotel was great for keeping us informed of changes and rearranging the dates. The hotel is to a good standard although the rooms look a little tired. The service we received throughout our stay was outstanding. Reception staff were extremely helpful and the service in the dining room was well organised and once again the staff were friendly and helpful. The only downside to our stay was the distance from the centre of Brighton. For the less mobile it is an extremely long walk and the bus stop is some way from the hotel. Parking is a bit of an issue with the charge of £25 per night being a lot more expensive than it is at home. All in all we would recommend this hotel as the view from our room was fantastic.

Enjoyed a drink in the lounge bar with views of the prom. The room was very comfortable and quiet and I was very pleased to have a fan as it was so hot that weekend. Breakfast was good and catered to my gluten free request. All in all a lovely stay ! We were able to leave our bags to enjoy our second day on the beach and cycled along the prom.

Disappointed and mislead

On arrival our room was not ready, but when allocated it was nothing like the room on the web listing. The Classic room on the listing was modern, spacious, had a walk in shower and Illy coffee machine. Our room was small, pokey and had neither the walk in shower or Illy coffee machine. The room was large enough for one person and dated. I had to ask reception for some toilet roll and told the lady on reception that it wasn,t the room on the web page and didn't have the coffee machine. She said it was a Classic room and they don't have coffee machines. I showed her the listing and she just said I will tell my manager because that is wrong. The restaurant was not open and the bar was pretty poor. Apart from the reception area the rest of the hotel was pretty tired. If I had known this beforehand I would not have booked this hotel.

We booked sea view room and had fabulous weather, so was justified. However, thought we woke to a sea mist, but this was due to the windows needing a clean! It was 2nd floor, so possibly a problem. Hotel had lovely character. Due to Covid, our room was not made up. Not an issue, except we ran out of bathroom items very quickly. Would have been nice if they told us when checking in, or left double amount in the room. Position is a slow 25 minute walk from the station and right by the BA tower, which was excellent for us. Room was small and did not have any drawers, so could be an issue for longer stays, but was comfortable and we slept well. Lovely walk-in shower, but water was slow to drain. Overall enjoyed our stay and would return.
