I have already emailed this complaint to David Chambers the general manager a week ago and had no reply: Our stay was highly disappointing. It’s started with us arriving with a tired toddler at 3pm to check in to be told our room was not ready, come back in 10 minutes. We went to the bar area and came back 15 minutes later to be told it was still not ready. 15 minutes later still not ready and so this went on, we did not get checking in until we’ll after 4 pm. Asked at this point for our room rate to reflect this breach of contract on your side and was offered a free drink at the bar which we did not want. We asked to speak to the manager and we waiting outside her office for some time listening to her laughing and joking on a phone call, she came off the phone and came and shut the door. Eventually spoke to the manger later that night and said we wanted our room rate reduced to reflect the issue, our evening was ruined with a toddler that now had no nap and we were unable to attend the restaurant we had booked as a result. (£60 lost on our cancellation of this restaurant). The manager tried to offer late check out which we did not want and eventually said she will see what she can do and come talk to us later....she did not. Next issue, the room was not clean I will attach photos so you can see, the phone was disgusting with grime, the shower grout was vile and the wall had stains on it that would easily have wiped away. Worse still the balcony was highly unsafe, it actually was held on by the remains of one small piece of metal. It moved if touched! I will attach photos. This is a health and safety nightmare. Rust on the door, wires hanging into the balcony from who knows what. Other little things, I asked for coffee as it was not left in the room, twice I asked and we never got. Just a different manager this time with a terrible attitude. Breakfast was so cheap and nasty we didn’t bother eating the second morning. This was not just us, other guests were not able to check in and complain to no avail at the same time as us, other guests also asking for teas and coffees not left in the room. I complained again on checking out, showed the manager the pictures and she simply said very sorry you didn’t like your stay......and stares at me in silence. We gave up at this point and left. So disappointed, we paid over £500 for 2 nights here and it was dire. I have never complained about a hotel before but this was substandard to say the least.

Good, convenient location and a comfortable room. No fridge in room but air conditioning was welcome in the hot conditions. Really disappointed with breakfast, bacon over cooked, sausage undercooked and eggs with no flavour. No proper coffee or tea, basically poured out of a vending machine.

The hotel lobby and bars were beautiful but the rest of the hotel felt more basic. The room was very hot even with the aircon on and the shower leaked out or the head so it didn't work properly. The staff were all lovely though.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a seafront hotel in Brighton. It is perfectly situated along the prom with amazing views and close to everything which Brighton and Hove have to offer. My husband and I were lucky enough to stay in a beautiful suite with a huge balcony which we made the most of by sitting watching all the action on the beach and prom. The staff were very friendly and helpful which helped make our stay so pleasant.

Check in took 25 minutes. No air con in the room. 24 hour room service menu stops at 10pm supposedly because of COVID. Bar service took an age. I know the hotel has been closed for a while but there is a LOT for management to do in order to get it to a standard worth paying for.

Great location, overpriced and basic

The building and lobby are beautiful, but the rooms did not match these standards. Shower water pressure in the Mews room was poor, view overlooked bins, bar staff quite rude when asked whether the advertised offer on champagne was still valid (advertised in the men’s toilets). Same staff then decided they weren’t making cocktails on a Saturday night. Would visit Brighton again but not at this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay even though at the age of 75 our room was on the 2nd floor, so it was bit of an effort climbing the stairs as there was no lift in our side of the room, I feel it was probably a room kept for guest that were staying on a deal. No hair drier in the room, over wise no complaints

We stayed for 1 night, staff were very friendly and helpful, room was well equipped with hot drink facilities. Only downside was the onsite parking was an unexpected expensive addition of £25 for 24hrs.

Fantastic location, nice hotel, friendly staff. Comfortable large bedroom which was well maintained. Breakfast was good - only problem we weren't told about the toast/coffee arrangement on the first day. It was also great being able to park the car at the hotel, although the parking was quite expensive. I would definitely return to this hotel

Reception area dated, some staff on the front desk are very inexperienced, some of the waiting staff are also inexperienced. Two identical rooms booked for a party of four friends but only one room with tea, milk, coffee pods, biscuits and bottled water. The other had nothing. May of been an oversight. However, when brought to the attention if reception this was put right immediately. Breakfast was completely forgotten for two people on our table and no courtesy checks were done. When brought to the attention of the waitress she looked at me blankly like she did not understand. Two cooked breakfasts arrived with missing items like sausages and beans from different plates. Did not complain as otherwise we would have had to wait. Next morning my two friends took the breakfast slip and breakfast was being served for all four of us despite the fact we had not arrived. All the staff were very amenable despite some having a poor command of English. The standard of the rooms and bathrooms were first class and clean. The bed lovely and comfortable to sleep in. Fresh towels were not an issue but you had to request these from reception. Parking an extra £25 per night but hotel staff were kind enough to allow us to park most of the day following checkout. Overall the hotel was great with a good location.

We arrived before check in time but our room was ready which was a pleasant surprise. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Our room was clean and well presented. The shower pressure was not much more than a trickle- a little disappointing and didn’t give you the feeling of being refreshed when you got out, especially as the weather was very hot. The room was not serviced during our stay due to covid changes. This was not a problem other than the refreshment tray was not topped up each day. We asked at reception and though we managed to get some more milk cartons from reception it was a bit of a struggle. The inside of the hotel was quirky. We stayed in a mews room with doors out onto a balcony area which was nice but the balcony area is in need of some tlc and a lick of paint. In short the staff was lovely, breakfast was served efficiently and though quirky the building could do with a bit of work. It’s ideally placed a short walk along the front into Brighton centre. We were able to park at the hotel but felt that £25 per night to do so is a bit steep as a hotel guest. We had a lovely stay overall.

Room very nice. Had free drink under Accor programme - undrinkable house wine the only alcoholic option - not what is expected. Chablis extortionately priced and served with ice as it was warm ! £25 per night to use hotel car park - disgraceful.

On arrival our room was not ready, but when allocated it was nothing like the room on the web listing. The Classic room on the listing was modern, spacious, had a walk in shower and Illy coffee machine. Our room was small, pokey and had neither the walk in shower or Illy coffee machine. The room was large enough for one person and dated. I had to ask reception for some toilet roll and told the lady on reception that it wasn,t the room on the web page and didn't have the coffee machine. She said it was a Classic room and they don't have coffee machines. I showed her the listing and she just said I will tell my manager because that is wrong. The restaurant was not open and the bar was pretty poor. Apart from the reception area the rest of the hotel was pretty tired. If I had known this beforehand I would not have booked this hotel.

We booked sea view room and had fabulous weather, so was justified. However, thought we woke to a sea mist, but this was due to the windows needing a clean! It was 2nd floor, so possibly a problem. Hotel had lovely character. Due to Covid, our room was not made up. Not an issue, except we ran out of bathroom items very quickly. Would have been nice if they told us when checking in, or left double amount in the room. Position is a slow 25 minute walk from the station and right by the BA tower, which was excellent for us. Room was small and did not have any drawers, so could be an issue for longer stays, but was comfortable and we slept well. Lovely walk-in shower, but water was slow to drain. Overall enjoyed our stay and would return.
