on the plus side. Average room very clean. Except we could not see out of the windows really dirty. Breakfast good. Rebecca was brilliant. Bar staff were good . covid safety goood. Downside. Charging over £230 for Saturday night. (equiv to 1 1/2 weeks pension !!!). £25 per night car parking.

Pleasant room, though hotel clearly not as grand as it would have been originally. Nice to have a little outside space, and generally quiet. Staff helpful.

Hotels in a good location, but some of the decorations tired. Cleaning needs more attention especially in public areas.

The entire hotel, but particularly the room, was insufferably stuffy, there was absolutely no air. We were provided with a shoddy fan that did very little to help. Only two sockets in the room is not helpful when there are two people and a fan! Overall a rather uncomfortable stay and we were relieved when it was over. Also, additional fees were a rip off - I booked over phone and repeated multiple times that had a pet but only on arrival was I told that it would cost an additional £15 per night & parking price was extortionate. Location was great and the upside.

Good stay, clean rooms and friendly staff. Veronica from reception was amazing ( I think that’s her name she is Spanish) The only downside was no AC in the bedroom and as well, we missed breakfast because due to COVID restrictions of the amount of people in that restaurant the time slots available where really early. This was included on our room rate and at the time of check out no one offered to give us the money back from it and that was the only downside.

The hotel food is over priced in my opinion, it wasn’t bad but was very simple for the price. The wifi didn’t work the whole stay, when we asked the staff to fix it they didn’t give us a solution but said the problem was with our phones. The room was basic but nice and clean. The toilet didn’t flush properly, the shower was basic. The location was the best bit, a very short walk directly onto the beach, there’s a nice pier opposite and nice restaurants and pubs close by.

difficult to speak to someone just to book a room as your reservations dept is overseas and lines are quite poor. someone was to call me back as I just couldn't hear her but she never bothered to call back. When I rang back the person I spoke to was more interested in selling me rewards points / membership etc than booking a room for me. Room fridge didn't work and staff had the cheek to tell me I would have to get water from the bar which is chargeable. Very disappointed breakfast could not be served in my room as I paid a lot of money for a balcony room. They said no due to covid but could provide me other food and drinks from room service which again is subject to charges. Extremely poor condition of the property and my balcony was filthy which obviously had not been cleaned for a very long time.

Short trip so not too much to say. Staff friendly and helpful enough. Had a sea front room, it was fine, but just a room with a seafront view! Earplugs a must….. also could do with some black out curtains as 0400 had the light shining through the edges and centre of the curtains, not what you’d expect from a £250 a night room!

On arrival our room was not ready, but when allocated it was nothing like the room on the web listing. The Classic room on the listing was modern, spacious, had a walk in shower and Illy coffee machine. Our room was small, pokey and had neither the walk in shower or Illy coffee machine. The room was large enough for one person and dated. I had to ask reception for some toilet roll and told the lady on reception that it wasn,t the room on the web page and didn't have the coffee machine. She said it was a Classic room and they don't have coffee machines. I showed her the listing and she just said I will tell my manager because that is wrong. The restaurant was not open and the bar was pretty poor. Apart from the reception area the rest of the hotel was pretty tired. If I had known this beforehand I would not have booked this hotel.

We booked sea view room and had fabulous weather, so was justified. However, thought we woke to a sea mist, but this was due to the windows needing a clean! It was 2nd floor, so possibly a problem. Hotel had lovely character. Due to Covid, our room was not made up. Not an issue, except we ran out of bathroom items very quickly. Would have been nice if they told us when checking in, or left double amount in the room. Position is a slow 25 minute walk from the station and right by the BA tower, which was excellent for us. Room was small and did not have any drawers, so could be an issue for longer stays, but was comfortable and we slept well. Lovely walk-in shower, but water was slow to drain. Overall enjoyed our stay and would return.

The staff throughout our stay were very friendly and accommodating. The room was comfortable and perfect for a night in Brighton. I would have loved to spend time in the hotel's bar but understandably it is currently closed. Luckily though the hotel is just a short stroll away from everything Brighton has to offer.

Having stayed at other Mercure hotels elsewhere and enjoyed the experience, frankly I will not be staying again. The room was small, basic with no draw space whatsoever for clothes. I asked for another bigger room with a bath, none was forthcoming - a seafront upgrade was offered at an extra £40 a night. I didn’t actually care about the view, just a comfortable room. There was a leak from the bathroom basin which came out to the ‘hall’ which was bubbling the wallpaper and seeping out onto the carpet. Outside the common space to the rooms beyond the entrance was in need of maintenance with common parts dirty. The breakfasts were very basic indeed and a very low standard. The only saving grace was the breakfast staff who were very obliging and courteous within the constraints they were functioning. All round a very poor low quality experience which I will not be repeating.
