We timed arrival very well at midday and we’re lucky to get a parking spot at the front. I had to search through trip advisor reviews for accurate information on parking as hotels own details were very cryptic. The lobby is lovely, stylish and chic but once you’re in the slanted hallways in the bedrooms it was disappointing. The room was tired and the bathroom very knackered and the bath was very small. Bed room was clean for the most part except for laundered clumps of hair pressed within the sheets. No view out the window and room was far smaller than imagined/anticipated from pictures. Reasonable price for a good location (weather was very poor during our stay so a little battered by rain and wind) Nonetheless grateful for the staff for the additions to the room and parking was very fair at £18 and we could stay til 3pm the following day. Would consider staying again.

Despite COVID rules our stay was very pleasant nonetheless. The staff were very helpful when needed and we felt comfortable and safe with the safety and cleaning provisions. We very much appreciated the effort to provide a sit down breakfast in the Ballroom with allotted morning time slots to account for social distancing rather than needing to have breakfast in our room.

The room was fine, bed was comfortable and slept well in it. Shower was absolutely shocking, probably the worst shower I’ve ever used.

Myself and my daughter stayed at the Mercure Hotel and had a good stay. Parking was a bit of a nightmare as it was tipping it down with rain and very stormy! We couldn’t get a parking space even after driving early from Bristol to get a chance of a space. Carrying bags therefore from the nearest car park was not pleasant!

We did not go to the Mercure. This was because Brighton had a much higher risk of the virus than other places we visited. I had received an email from the hotel saying that they were NOT doing food and because of the higher risk I did not want to try my luck looking for a restaurant in the busy streets of Brighton. I phoned the hotel in advance and explained this but they would NOT reschedule our booking costing a hundred plus pounds. On the day, when we were almost home I received another email stating the kitchen WAS open and that they could provide dinner on room service. We would have loved this. I have had an account with ACCOR hotels for several years now and this was disappointing.

We were let down by Secret Escapes, but the manager of the hotel honoured our booking, we were very impressed by the way it was dealt with,and have recommended the hotel to our friends, we will definitely stay there again

The hotel is well located. Staff are friendly. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom however was in need of decorating and updating the ceiling was peeling there were rusty patches and the grout was dirty looking. The breakfast was very good

Small room. Lights only completely turned out if you turned the switches on and off in the right combination. Water in the shower not hot. Doors slamming at night and in the morning made it noisy. Poorly fitted doors meant that there was a lot of light from the hallways into the room at night. Not the cheapest of hotels and certainly not value for money. Staff were pleasant but not a welcoming stay under Covid restrictions.

Stayed for one night. Room was fine. Lack of communication between staff with lots of mixed messages. Some strange Covid arrangements - Had to have breakfast by 7.30 in a completely empty ballroom with 20 empty tables, which was odd. Given the wrong code for car park exit but everyone was helpful and doing their best.
