The hotel is 18 mins walk from Brighton centre so not well located. The stay was average.

I applied for the Autumn Break Deal and despite 3 emails I did not get proper confirmation of the booking. Consequently on arrival there was confusion about the meals outlined in the advertised deal. The manager had to sanction our allocation. The flush in our toilet (Room 303) was ineffective. The ceiling lights stayed on all night. Breakfast service was poor, one waiter ignored our presence and despite 3 requests for an order, it did not arrive. On departure, I was surprisingly refunded £2.50 because I had initially paid more than the present deal.

Amidst all the doubts about visiting Brighton the Mercure stood out as a beacon of reassurance. All Covid measures were well explained by friendly staff. Our rooms were excellent and we enjoyed a five-star full English breakfast in the morning. We felt cosseted and comfortable and very happy with the way the hotel looked after us.

Made to feel very welcome. Room and hotel was stunning! Bed very comfortable. Room had everything you would need with a stunning seaview. In an excellent location. Parking was a bit pricey and I think should of been cheaper as we were staying there. Breakfast was the best vegetarian breakfast I have ever eaten!

Parking is priced competitively with other hotels in the city and is under constant review to ensure our rates are always in line with, or lower than local secure parking. Our room was much smaller than those shown on the website! Also at breakfast there was one man serving who did not have his nose covered by his mask! He was very shaky when serving our breakfast and walked all round the restaurant at one point spilling tea everywhere!

Felt completely safe during these unprecedented times. Staff very well mannered. Allowing us to check in early as room was ready. OWY system in place. From the Bar set up to ordering and delivering Breakfast was extremely well organised. Could not fault anything.

The decor was very colourful in downstairs rooms. Staff were friendly and happy especially breakfast waiters. Breakfast was great liked the trolley service was amusing like a magician's box. Lovely full English.

The staff were so welcoming and helpful, the newly decorated foyer and bar were atmospheric and inspiring. We enjoyed yummy room service food. Sadly when the pubs closed at ten a party began in the room next to us until 2 am

The room was very small and extremely basic. The bathroom could’ve done with a refresh as it was tired and very dated. Unfortunately it wasn’t the venue for a luxury weekend away like I had expected. Although the lobby and reception area of the hotel was lovely and had a lot of character.

Hotel was in a great location. However, when we arrived there was no available parking. Considering this is advertised on the hotels website and booking.com, I was quite annoyed by this - although you have to pay for the hotel parking, it still would have been considerably cheaper than other car parks in the area. The room was spotlessly clean but was very small (which was not shown honestly in the photos of the standard room we saw). Staff were friendly and helpful and COVID regulations were done excellently.

For a privilege room I thought the standard was poor, horrible view in room 155. The sink was blocked in bathroom. A horrible brown mark on the ceiling, I bought this as a Wowcher deal and it clearly stated that check out was at 1pm when I told the receptionist she said no it's 11am so we literally packed our stuff and left. Not the relaxing stay I was hoping for.
