Noisy neighbours until 2am. Several phone calls to reception - nothing they could do apparently. A visit to reception at 2am to request they bang on the door - which they eventually did. A very unpleasant nights sleep.

Comfortable room, staff welcoming and friendly. Fried eggs for breakfast left in too much cooking oil.Grilled tomatoes a little dry. Milk jugs annoying and would not poor easily. I think the dining room, breakfast area chairs need the wood cleaning as finger marks visible from previous diners. Glasses in rooms had finger marks on also. Had to clean before use. Reception area a little bit slow at times dealing with phone calls and trying to check in customers.

The welcome was good, the room, as requested, the breakfast OK. We stayed elsewhere last month, both my wife and I commented that the mattresses at the Bankfield Hotel are not, at least for us, conducive to a good night's sleep.

Having stayed here a couple of times previous to this stay I was disappointed with the room I was given - I felt that it hadn't been properly been checked before my arrival - there was a ladies razor left in the shower, water left in the kettle and it wasn't until I was in the shower found that there was no body wash. I contacted reception about the lack of body wash but it still hadn't been replaced by the time I left. There was a red stain on the carpet by the bed as if red wine had been spilt and some stains on the net curtains. I also took up the 'Go green with the clean' offer but as yet have not had these points credited to my account as it states on the room information they will be credited during your stay. I didn't feel that I got any benefits of being a Platinum card holder as I have had in other Mercure hotels.
