We had a fantastic Afternoon Tea. Our waitress Rudi was very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. The chef introduced himself and explained all the fillings, in the delicious sandwiches. Fabulous selection of cakes and unlimited tea & coffee. We paid extra for Prosecco.

Not enough staff, room slightly tatty, very noisy wedding reception going on and people gathered noisily outside our room so couldn't sleep. Arrived back to our room and the corridor and our room stunk of pot. Tried to call reception but got an answerphone twice which wasn't responded to. Went to reception and no-one there. Finally found someone and it was dealt with. Tried to get service in the bar and waited ages - bar staff obviously covering the wedding too. I would not stay here again.

I’m very sorry to hear about the experience you had, and I want to sincerely apologise for the many aspects of your visit that fell short of expectations. We are particularly concerned to hear about the noise disturbance, the condition of your room, and the unpleasant smell in the corridor. These are not the standards we strive to uphold, and I completely understand how this would have impacted your comfort and overall impression of our hotel. It is also disappointing to learn that you were unable to reach a member of our team when you needed assistance, both by phone and in person. This is unacceptable and we will be reviewing our staffing and response procedures to ensure guests are never left feeling unsupported again. Your experience at the bar is equally regrettable. Weddings can occasionally create increased demand, but this should never come at the expense of our other guests. Your comments have been shared with the relevant teams so we can address these service gaps. I completely understand your decision regarding future stays, but I do hope you might consider giving us another opportunity to provide the level of service and comfort we are known for. Hotel perfectly adequate for what I needed. Once away from the main reception areas, the corridors are a bit bleak and unattractive, but the room and bathroom were fine. I was out all day and well into the evenings on my 2 day stay and it was great for what I needed. Worst part was my paranoia that I’d input my car reg wrong and would be hit by a parking charge! Prominent signs warn of this possibility.

We stayed at the Bankfield for one night as we were attending a family funeral the following day. From start to finish the staff couldn't have been more helpful. I discussed my gluten/lactose intolerant diet with the chef as I am very nervous about eating out as I've had disasters in the past at other eateries and been very ill. The chef reassured me, brought the gluten free bread out to show me the package . Explained he could even toast my bread separately if I wanted it toasting . I really appreciate the time, consideration and help received. Johnson and Rudi . I wish everyone was as helpful and caring as you . It would help so many people living with Coeliac disease.
