BLOOD DONATION - CAR PARKING FINE £170 AND THREAT OF COURT ACTION

TripAdvisor rating 1.0/5

David I TripAdvisor review

CAR PARKING CHARGE I HAVE HAD TO MAKE FORMAL COMPLAINT AND REFER TO MERCURE COMPLAINTS DEPARTMENT. THIS HAS BEEN RAISED WITH HOTEL MANAGEMENT PREVIOUSLY WHO HAVE SHOWN THEMSELVES TO BE INCOMPETENT IN THIS MATTER. On 12 Dec I telephoned reception desk at Mercure Bankfield Bingley to explain that I attended a blood donor session on 25 November. As requested I entered my car reg no on the tablet at hotel reception/blood donation entrance however I had received a car parking charge. I emailed a photo of Parking charge to Mercure Reception as requested. I was told that a manager would contact Smart Parking directly/immediately to waive this charge. I emailed and asked Mercure to acknowledge my email by return and update me in relation to this charge which they failed to do. On 22 January I received the terrible shock of getting another letter, this time demanding £170 and threatening court action! I spoke to Mercure reception staff and expressed my anxiety and stress and lack of trust in their ability to keep their promises and deal with this matter professionally. I was asked to forward a copy of the charge by email - which I did- and I was assured that a manager would deal with this. I asked for an acknowledgment and a telephone number of the manager but I have not had a response. I have telephoned Debt Recovery Plus but have not been able to get an answer to my calls. I have emailed Mercure Customer Services but they do not seem interested in intervening in this matter.

Perfect for our needs.

Comfortable room that met our needs. Good food. Very pleasant staff. Appeared to be very few people about. Very few electric sockets in the room. Welcome tray not positioned near a socket.

CAR Parking Fine

Be aware. I was staying in the hotel and I asked if I had to pay for the car parking the staff said No but I needed to enter my registration into tablet at reception , which I did and again the next morning. The next thing I received a parking fine the hotel promised that they would sort it out and then I received a debt collection letter. No matter how many times I call or email nothing has been done. I tried to call the Group and they don't have a number. The staff at the hotel informed me that they have a problem and lots of guests had a parking fine problem but they don't deal with it. This is an unregulated car parking service so they can fine you what ever they want. I suggest you choose very carefully when booking into a chain hotel.

Very good stay

The hotel as a grand entrance with rooms off on wings which another review described as the old tv program Crossroads, I would agree with this, the door entrance card had to be reprogrammed after a single use ( 3 times ) service in restaurant was slow and no atmosphere, breakfast was okay if you didn’t want pouch eggs ( as I did ) as there wasn’t any white vinegar !! The room was tired and desperately needs updating, only one double socket on other side of room, bathroom floor was spongy like it had previously had water damage, tiling and silicone around the bath looked like it had been completed by a 10 year old and was dirty in the corners, tv remote control held together by sellotape, I know you get what you pay for but I would rate this a two star hotel. Staff were pleasant , polite and welcoming but it just seemed like the hotel was previously and stunning place and is now falling away and just existing…Shame ! In the area regularly but will have to source other accommodation for future.
