I must say ,having read recent reviews of this hotel I was quite dubious of staying there , however I decided to go ahead anyway and so glad I did! Our room was spotlessly clean with all the amenities you could need.Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice .Who knows if every room is to the same standard as ours but ours was good and all for a great price !

The hotel is very tired. Its not a great sign, when the reception counter is visibly worn. The water cooler clearly had the same glasses from yesterday next to it. I paid for a premium double room. In fact, it was two single beds, attached together. I would not consider this as premium. The bath had grime, and wear around the taps, plug, plug hole and soap dish. I paid quite a hefty amount to include breakfast. The hot food, was stone cold. Clearly they don't have many people eat breakfast on weekdays. It would make much more sense to sell plated breakfasts, instead of buffet. At least then, the menu would match the availability, and it would be at least warm. It would be nice if apps like Netflix or amazon prime were available on the TV, especially as I paid a premium. The only saving graces were, the chefs are clearly capable of cooking at a decent standard. Breakfast, although cold, was clearly cooked well, as was evening meal. Plus, the staff were polite and courteous, even if the receptionist did not ask how my stay was, upon check out.

I was always of the opinion Mercure hotel was a decent standard hotel. I booked a single room as I was alone the room was tiny which is understandable however the room was extremely cold, the portable electric heater did not help. The bathroom was small cold and water pressure was poor. Although the windows were close cold air was still coming through. when requesting for a new room or heater I was told non were available. I had to book another hotel and leave after a couple of hours because it was not suitable to stay in.

Disappointed with the state of the rooms. Old and tired with the sink smashed and lots of paint work/ wood damage. Carpets on the corridors look like they’ve not been hoovered…
