Gentlemen on reception was very friendly and welcoming. Restaurant staff were very helpful and looked after us well. Food was lovely. Evening meal and breakfast. Pool was warm and family bedroom superb. Great value for money.

Tired Rooms, Great Staff

I've stayed at the hotel a number of times over the last few years as it's close to the office, but I have seen a gradual decline. The hotel is in need of refurbishment, the rooms are tired and dated. There was a strong, musty smell all along the 2nd floor corridors and in the room I stayed in, I had to leave the window open all night. It was as though there had been a bad leak and the carpets hadn't dried out, it was quite unpleasant. There is a mat on the floor outside what appear to be riser cupboards as you come out of the lift, I suspect that it's there to hide an issue. I'd been working late on the night I stayed and didn't arrive until around 22:30. I asked at check in whether food was still being served as I'd had nothing to eat since lunchtime and I was told to ask at the bar. I dropped off my bag and went back down to the bar only to be told there was no food, not even a sandwich, as the chef had gone home. I was surprised that it required a chef to make a sandwich! In the room I found a note saying room service is available 24 hours a day, I suggest you remove these from the rooms if you're not going to make food available. The showers are not great, the water pressure is very low and there have been occasions when I've gone straight home without a shower as it takes too long to have one at the hotel! On a more positive note, the bedroom and bathroom were clean and the staff are lovely, especially the ladies at breakfast who are always friendly and cheerful.

We came to attend a funeral and the hotel is very well placed. It was a comfortable hotel to stay. We had to bring our dog and there was room to walk him outside with no difficulties. We’ve stayed here several times and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. The staff are lovely.
