We visited twice within March and we could not fault the staff and their hospitality either time. Quick and attentive to your needs even when needing to extend our stay at short notice it wasn’t any problem. Clean and sealed rooms were a lovely Covid idea.

All hotel staff very professional, friendly and helpful. Room has everything you need for your stay and clean although bathroom dated. Room service great, food lovely. The added bonus for me was having the option of room service and not having to search for a take away (due to Covid restrictions). The breakfast in the morning was good value and lovely.

Mostly excellent (obvious restrictions due to 'Covid'). WiFi in the room only average, this should be upgraded to stronger/faster. Bed very good, room quiet and relaxing. Pity about the location, it was probably better a few years ago but now the hotel is being partly surrounded by supermarkets, small factory units, garages, etc. This spoils the first impression in my opinion.

I’ve stayed in this hotel before during November 2020 and I believe my experience was way better then. My room was better. This time my room wasn’t the best, there was stains on the carpet, I also saw bits of blood or dirt on my towel. The room was quite disappointing compared to the room I got on my last stay. Last time my room was bright, big and super clean.

A bit isolated, but welcoming

During my stay the wind and rain were more or less incessant. The hotel offered a place to get dry, though it was not especially warm during a couple of cold days in August. Although the hotel appears to be close to a major road, there is no problem with noise. Several large supermarkets are within walking distance, but it's quite a distance to a place with a selection of restaurants. The bar was fine, the restaurant good (but with limited choices). Breakfast was served cold in a bag. I did not go for a stroll around the hotel grounds. No doubt the experience would have been very different if the weather had been more pleasant.

Dear Russell Thank you for your review and I am pleased you enjoyed your stay The hotel reopened on the 1st August and our approach has been to open up our services in our gradual way so we can focus on them ensure we are doing so in a safe way. We are now serving breakfast in our restaurant and it is an At Seat concept with the continental selection served from a trolley and the cooked served plated both to guests tables. Our restaurant menu has been reduced but we will soon be extending it so a full offering is available Kind regards David

Lovely grounds just a bit tired

Firstly the hotel is set in lovely grounds and not far from popular places. The hotel is a little tired and the bedrooms need a reburbish. We booked on an offer of new opening due to Covid. The Mercure website promised us two nights bed and breakfast with one night evening meal, we Were also promised, slippers, robes and newspapers. What we got was a bag breakfast and what I would call a snack evening meal. I.e burger or pizza. We never received robes or slippers or newspapers which is what we upgraded to. This was definitely misrepresented by Mercure and we needed up paying more than we would have had we paid for our meals? Once this hotel is back up and running on all cylinders because of its location I would stay again as the staff are very friendly and the bed was very comfortable.

We have now been open for six weeks and most of our services are now open, although operating differently to ensure covid safety.
