The hotel is in need of a major make over, the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, extremely noisy, the shower wasn’t working and overall very grubby. When you pay over £300 for the stay (2 nights), you would expect everything to work. Reported it to reception, we were told the maintenance man was not in. There was large chimney (ducting) directly outside our window, not sure what it’s used for? There was a constant banging noise (like a door being slammed) every few seconds. This is the part I don’t get, we spoke to the reception about our concerns and because we booked it through booking.com they couldn’t do anything about what was reported. My advice is to stay well clear of this run down establishment.

Wouldn't stay here again.

So, booked this for my wife and me for our ruby wedding anniversary, this was a comedy dining evening including an overnight stay plus an extra night. This is a big hotel with at least 300 rooms spread over two floors, I am disabled and did not mention this when booking as I try not to dwell on my disability and having to use walking aids, in this case my walking stick, I just assumed that a hotel of this size would have a lift, it didn't, although it does have a disabled toilet downstairs? So had two flights of stairs to get up and down, not easy but did it. The bar, as expected, is quite expensive which ok, fine, but when ordering a Martel brandy at over five pound a shot, one would expect that between the two bars they would posses at least a basic brandy glass? no, a tumbler or a wine glass. Not a snob by any means but when one is paying these sort of prices. The rooms are nice with hair dryer iron etc, and the staff are friendly enough but for a hotel of this size in Chester, sorry, but not what it is all cracked up to be and would not stay again.

One of the most regrettable hotel stays I have had in a long time. First at the check in, I had to ask for my bill to be checked twice as the amount nearly paid was over 40 pounds higher than my email confirmation. Even after showing the email confirmation, I was told that's possibly for my set menu that was clearly included in my email confirmation. Restaurant The bill sorted, I was told to book our included meal in the restaurant, where we were told that they cannot accommodate us due to busy evening. Afterwards, they did fit us in at the time requested. I was sent numerous follow up after the booking was made, not one of those asking me to request a restaurant booking. The menu on the hotel website looked really nice hence we booked a 3 course meal at the booking time. Oh how wrong we were to do that. And I believe quite misleading advertising to include an outdated menu on your website. The menu we were given was brief and only pizzas, cod and chips, ceasar salad and Quorn were included from the main course. Really? You call yourself a brasserie and offer this menu to your customers. The room itself was dates, heater in the bathroom peeling, and net curtains that haven't been washed in a while. That would not be an issue as there were comfy beds and nice room temperature though. And we would enjoy the room if it was not being right over the restaurant/ venue hall with music playing until midnight!!! Then of course chairs moving and more noise lasting longer. You really should warn potential customers about the noise issues and your parties lasting well over midnight so families with small children can make an informed choice whether to take that level of noise. Swimming pool was great too, apart from the fact that we were not informed about swimming classes taking place next day, even though we specifically asked if we can use the pool in the morning. Try explaining tho the 4 year old why she can't go to the blocked part on Sunday morning. However, the praise should be given to your staff who were incredible and allergy awareness definitely best I have seen. Other than that, never again and definitely would recommend friends and family to stay well away, too.

We booked 2 family rooms as we have 3 children under the age of 18. They were located on different floors of the hotel. The reception area and bar are nice and welcoming but the rooms need a total revamp. Very tired looking and not the cleanest.

Poor bar service, room not clean, bed and linen poor quality, radiator in room barely working, extremely noisy neighbours (obviously not hotel fault).
