Staff were lovely. Food was good. Standard room was dire! Ripped old curtains. Heavy old bed linen and pillows - although clean. Worn out old chair. Garden lovely but they are spending money on pods and not where it's needed. Left a day early. These rooms should be closed down. Only so much we can blame on Covid. People do still have standards.

We arrived at the hotel to not a very warm welcome. Checked in to be told there was no lift and they had placed us on the 2nd floor. Baring in mind I had previously asked for ground floor room because we have a baby and a lot of luggage. After settling for that was the way it had to be. We proceeded up into the room. To be greeted by no cot for our baby which had been stated when we booked the hotel. The cleanliness was disgusting, the marks on walls, dust everywhere and a grimy carpet and generally how the room was presented. Returned back from our day out in Chester on 2nd day to discover our room hadn’t been touched or cleaned. Meaning no clean towels and having to make the bed myself. This has forced us to had back the room keys a night early and leave to travel home.

Breakfast continually busy and disorganised, e.g., help yourself to a table (two of us sitting at a table for six, if they show people to an appropriate table then there is room for everyone). Not shown where everything was, e.g., didn’t know where the bread was). Decor needs updating, very shabby. Communal areas not hoovered. Drinks at bar were warm, even when bar not busy. It really needs some tlc.

Stayed overnight. Good location on edge of town with plenty of parking and easy access to city and major routes. Room and breakfast were good value for the price we paid.

This is a fantastic hotel, situated on the outskirts and well placed for visits to Chester. It has a spacious car park, nice bar, garden area and public areas in general. The privilege and studio rooms we stayed in on both occasions were spacious with a large bed, modern and clean. Plenty of choice at breakfast. I definitely recommend a stay here.

The room was dirty, tired, cheap. Noisy. Drinks are extremely over priced. I left at 10pm. It was meant to be a virgin experience gift. I felt embarrassed to say that I had even been.

Room fine but Dinner absolute disgrace.Told on check in that only those on dinner bed and breakfast would be served dinner and the rest of us could only have a burger or Pizza at the bar.After a row with the manager we and another cudtomer were served a proper meal.Never in my life had to beg for a meal in a hotel

The stay was okay, the room was rough round the edges with wallpaper pealing and felt quite dark and miserable, the square could do with a good garden, it was like looking into pontins. I expected the hotel to be a lot nicer, which it does look at the reception area and dining but beyond that it's not that great.

OK but with issues

Hotel is a little dated. Too many dogs in hotel as we did not enjoy our bar meal as 2 lots of dog owners were sitting on adjacent tables. At breakfast there was a dog barking and snarling at the entrance to dining room. The dog owners table was in the wrong place . It made us uncomfortable. The beds were huge and very comfy and rooms were clean. My wife left her anorak/mac in the room (238) when we left and we have difficulty trying to contact anyone to try and retrieve it, I emailed, and no response and phoned several times to be told that they would email housekeeping and will phone me back but I have heard nothing. The restaurant was allegedly full on our last night so had to eat in the bar but another couple informed us that the restaurant was mostly empty during the evening. Sandwiches were not available after 6pm and was told the room service menu was the same as the bar menu. But when I later checked the room service menu sandwiches were available 24 hr so we were given the incorrect information. It is supposed to be a 4 star hotel ?? so not impressed

Hotel clean but the dining experience a disaster with meals only being offered to customers on dinner bead and breakfast packages.We were told that we could only have a burger or pizza in the bar..Will never stay there again

We had a lovely stay here the food was very good and use of the health club facilities was also great, hotel is not far from the city centre so good location the only let down was the cleanliness of the hotel and needed a good clean.

I booked this hotel for my partners birthday it was nothing like the photos on the website. There's a terrible sewerage smell running through the corridors and our room. The room was dirty chair broken and fan was not working. Never slept all night. Breakfast was poor trays empty with a sewerage smell coming in from the gardens. Gardens required serious attention again nothing like the pictures. We couldn't move as all rooms were taken.

Spacious room, with comfortable bed and friendly staff. Parking simple and sufficient. Surprising amount of road noise in the room, even with windows closed. Restaurant menu very limited and disappointing, so ate elsewhere.

Stayed 3 nights, dinner bed and breakfast. Good location. Bed, bedding and towels very good. Cleaners do a good job considering the wear and tear on the bedroom, very old dated furniture. Reception staff excellent. Restaurant staff very polite and efficient. Breakfast average, evening meals first class, plenty of choice, and good quality food and presentation. Big problem with key card being cancelled every time we left the room, not connected to mobile phone proximity. Manager visible and smart.

We stayed one night as wedding guests. The wedding was amazing and we were looked after so well! Room was clean and spacious but the air con unit was outside our window and it was too warm to close the windows so didn’t get much sleep. We really enjoyed our stay but the breakfast let the hotel down. No one to help serve, had to go looking for someone for fresh eggs, bacon and hash browns - no bread at the toaster! What we did have to eat was lovely but staff being about to help and replenish the food is so important!!
