The Title says it all. Hotel staff were superb. General cleanliness of hotel excellent. BUT:Plumbing in my room was not up to par. Previous occupant must have left toilet in poor state. Hot tap in sink was inadequate and shower unit needed repair

We are regular Mercure customers and fully aware of post pandemic issues. However, a number of areas did not come up to the standard we have previously experienced here. The bathroom radiator didn't work, some bedding was put on inside out and the hair dryer was dirty with hair and dust. On returning to room on the second day, it had not been serviced as promised. Staff said it wasn't done due to staff shortage. This should have been communicated without asking - we had to ask for additional supplies (toilet rolls, tea etc). We had booked a restaurant table, but on arrival found only the bar available (no table reserved) and service was "pub style": tables not laid and cutlery handed over in a paper napkin after order. Food was generally acceptable but far from normal standard. Frankly, we should have sent the very stale and dry cheesecake back, but didn't want to make a fuss as the bar staff were friendly. Breakfast was a bit mixed, better on second day but not great. Check-out staff were very disinterested and really grumpy about sorting the bill as the bar had not deducted the meal allowance of our deal. It won't stop us going back, but the level of service needs addressing.

Start to finish a comedy of errors, staff were great but I'm afraid you can't polish a turd. Really needs to dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century! No Nespresso machine in the room which was advertised, dinner very disappointing, daily fish of the day hadn't been delivered and dish we eventually ordered came with sticky Thai rice instead of horseradish mash and Veg. Breakfast seemed to be 'too much trouble' even at 9.15am when it was supposed to finish at 10am felt like we were putting the staff out. Definitely service without a smile! Bar then shut at 9.45pm. next day room was left unserviced. For a hotel chain which I have experienced worldwide this was nowhere near the standard it should be. Shan't be using again.

I was only there for one night on business. I arrived late and had to hunt for someone to check me in. The room was pleasant enough and quiet but the heating was on full in the bathroom and couldnt be turned off. Despite being very few people staying, I was given a room next to another couple and the walls were very thin so you can hear practically every word being said! The breakfast was poor and listed as "buffet" but you had to wait about 10 mimutes for eggs to be cooked to order which left your breakfast cold. Staff appeared to be pretty demotivated too. Overall, an "underwhelming" experience I'm afraid.

The shower in our room was dirty and also had black mould. The staff at supper were directionless and took no notice of the diners so our simple meal took several hours. The whole building is somewhat shabby and needs a makeover. We will not return. This was our first experience of a Mercure hotel and I hope it is not typical
