Probably the worst Mercure Hotel i’ve ever stayed at. Location wise, this hotel is perfect for Wetherby, but that’s just about where it finishes. The accommodation is tired, which can be forgiven. Other than that, it was a bit like Fawlty Towers without the hilarity!! Starting with the positive, the reception staff were excellent. They must spend their entire working lives fending off complaints and moans, that’s what I witnessed in any event, and they dealt with them admirably. Now the negatives and I’ll start with Housekeeping. The refreshment tray in my room was never re stocked, though the towels were. At 1 stage I had 3 new sets, but no Tea Bags. I was in a upgraded room, as were my 4 colleagues. 2 of us had coffee machines, though the others did not! Some had Bath robes and others didn’t. I had no remote for my TV and the drawer fronts were loose. Heaven only knows what the non upgraded rooms were like. Dirty cups were not cleaned or replaced for 2 days. On 1 night, a huge pile of dirty linen was left in the corridor. Breakfast was not awful, but if there was a coach party in, you’d need to get in before them if you wanted anything to eat. Frequently had to ask for Musli and Granola and this is the only hotel I’ve stayed at in the world where you’re expected to serve yourself mushrooms, (and we’re not talking the large flat 1’s but the button variety) with tongs. There were frequently no pastries or rolls, but other than that, breakfast was ok. Essentially, there’s very little attention to detail. You’re left with the distinct impression that this hotel relies on the fact that it’s the only 1 of its size in Wetherby and appears to make no effort.

We have stayed at this hotel many times pre covid when planning this trip I looked at trip advisor to see if things had changed I was almost put off staying by the comments but can honestly say I don't know that the people were talking about we stayed in a privilege room and from the moment we arrived the staff were friendly and helpful a special shout out for the ladies at breakfast they are brilliant nothing to much trouble the corridors look newly decorated as does the restaurant the food was excellent all in all well done we will be back

Booked last minute as travelling arrived at 8.50 unable to get a meal as restaurant was closed no offer of room service, was sign posted to the local morrisons. Went to room it had not been cleaned, had to return to reception to be re-allocated another room, awkward with 2 dogs in tow. offerred a free drink Charged by hotel for dogs amounting to £30, checked my e mails (lucky as I don't normally) advised by booking . com that the hotel would not charge me for the dogs, again had to go to reception and query this problem Bar closed at 11pm overall the hotel is desperate for a good clean/refurbishment

As a frequent visitor to National chain of similar hotels, I thought I would give Mercure Wetherby a try as I was in a convenient location. Room and bed was smaller than I am used to. The bathroom had no extraction so any odour lingered. Half the TV channels did not work. There was an intermittent knocking noise coming from somewhere. There only place for us to sit apart from the bed was one chair that looked like it was bought from a charity shop. Although the reception are was smart the room could do with a refit and decoration. On the positive side Staff were friendly and helpful cooked breakfast was OK, but poor choice of continental. On the whole por value for the price (£145). Was due to return on Following Wednesday but cancelled and are staying somewhere else.

Very difficult booking in . We were a wedding party I had booked and paid for rooms in advance and told me only 2 rooms allocated when I got there. So confusing and very stressful. The staff were very pleasant both reception and bar staff.

Staff friendly but Plumbing in room a little below par

The Title says it all. Hotel staff were superb. General cleanliness of hotel excellent. BUT:Plumbing in my room was not up to par. Previous occupant must have left toilet in poor state. Hot tap in sink was inadequate and shower unit needed repair

Very disappointing stay

We are regular Mercure customers and fully aware of post pandemic issues. However, a number of areas did not come up to the standard we have previously experienced here. The bathroom radiator didn't work, some bedding was put on inside out and the hair dryer was dirty with hair and dust. On returning to room on the second day, it had not been serviced as promised. Staff said it wasn't done due to staff shortage. This should have been communicated without asking - we had to ask for additional supplies (toilet rolls, tea etc). We had booked a restaurant table, but on arrival found only the bar available (no table reserved) and service was "pub style": tables not laid and cutlery handed over in a paper napkin after order. Food was generally acceptable but far from normal standard. Frankly, we should have sent the very stale and dry cheesecake back, but didn't want to make a fuss as the bar staff were friendly. Breakfast was a bit mixed, better on second day but not great. Check-out staff were very disinterested and really grumpy about sorting the bill as the bar had not deducted the meal allowance of our deal. It won't stop us going back, but the level of service needs addressing.
