We stayed here previously and couldn't fault the hotel, the rooms, the staff or the whole experience. It was excellent and is in a great location. Unfortunately this time we stayed, I was very disappointed. The staff were very helpful and we even had our bag carried to the room which was excellent service. Unfortunately the room had not been cleaned properly from the last visitors. There were toothbrushes and shower gel left on the sink which didn't belong to us and also the beds hadn't been changed as the sheets were marked and the bed was full of bits. The shower flooded the floor as we couldn't get it to work to begin with and then couldn't turn it off and so we had to use all the towels to soak up the water so it didn't go through the floor. The sealant around the shower was black and mouldy and looked like it had flooded a number of times to get into the state it was. I tripped over the camp bed that was positioned right next to the bed during the night which was incredibly painful and don't know why the bed was left out from the previous visitors as there was only two of us so didn't need a camp bed. The breakfast was also not very hot and had been standing in the warmers for some time as much of it was really dry. It is a shame as the hotel was excellent on our first stay but I don't know what has happened to let the standards slip so.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Mecure Wetherby Hotel. The staff were excellent and very helpful. The dinner and breakfast were lovely. The only negative is the room was a bit dated, especially the bathroom that was in need of some TLC.

A pleasant stay, comfortable room and a good breakfast. Ate once in the restaurant. The food was good and the staff made us feel at home. There were a couple of house keeping issues which were resolved quickly without fuss. Would stay again.

We have stayed and visited a number of Mercure Hotels both in the U.K. and on the Continent. Some were “ iffy” and disappointing . The Mercure Wetherby was a pleasant surprise; comfortable, clean, welcoming and helpful. Perhaps the bathroom ( room 206 requires upgrading ) Indeed, a most relaxing haven to return after a hectic day. Your breakfast chef and staff were helpful and cheery. I am bit of a sausage officiando and there could be some improvement in the selection from my point of view. 7.5/10 for breakfast.

Hi, The staff were very friendly and I had no problems with them at all. However the room that I stayed in (room 2003), which was meant to be one of your superior rooms was diabolical, especially the shower room including the handrail, the tiling and the grouting and also the overflow in the baisn were all absolutely filthy. The food…I started with the goats cheese and it was fantastic, followed by the steak which was inedible and finished with the poached pear which wasn’t so bad. If you are interested I have photographs of all these problems.

easy to find good location, Very good size room,looking a bit tired in places .Didn't have breakfast half the price at Morrisons . could do with signe to rear car park. Tidy grounds looks good from roadside.

The room wasn’t made up when we arrived. Bed unmade, dirty towels piled up in the shower. Room was cold. Pillows were hard. Room was sold as a double but was actually a twin, two single beds pushed together with two separate duvets. Staff were pleasant.

Nice location” hotel is like something from the 70s Very dated ‘ we did not get to sleep till 3 am noise like furniture being dragged around called reception at 1.20am ‘ on arrival we checked in we booked a extra bed in our room for our son ‘ it was not in the room we got the bed 20 mins froM midnight’ it was clear on the booking in writing that the bed was asked for and agreed by the hotel ‘ I would not stay at the hotel again sorry for poor fed back just being truthful.

Ok but the hotel was very dated especially the rooms, they were cosy. I turned off radiator and had one window open we were still hot through the night Breakfast was ok but had to wait for buffet too ups and orange juice was diluted squash at best For such a nice village in the location it is deserved a hotel with a bit more quality

Our room massively needed a deep clean and an upgrade. There was mould on the walls, cobwebs on the walls/lights, stains on walls/doors, the shower/bathroom was full of stains/grime/missing parts/paint peeling off radiator. I didn’t expect this for the price we paid and I won’t be returning and won’t be recommending the hotel. I have pictures should you wish to see them.

The room was adequate for our short stay. It was clean, warm and comfortable if a little dated. The en suite was clean and reasonably provided towels and toiletries. There was no toilet paper on arrival although the reception attended to this when we pointed it out. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The staff throughout we friendly and helpful.

The hotel is in dire need of refurbishment. Service at bar very poor. No kettle in room (was told they get nicked by receptionist in departure) and showee didn't provide hot water.

Convenient, as nearby to friends and family that we were visiting. Acceptable for one night, but would not want to stay longer. The people in the room next to ours argued all night. We didn't have a TV remote, the room was cold when we arrived, areas had not been cleaned properly, and we had 3 bathmats and no handtowels. The room was pleasant enough and the staff very friendly, but there was no 'atmosphere or experience'. Nevertheless, we may stay again as it is conveniently located.

We have stayed at the Mercure in Wetherby a number of times. The decor is a little tired but that is reflected in the price and we are happy with that combination. The reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful throughout. However, the room servicing was a bit hit and miss during the stay. We arrived on Christmas Eve and stayed for five nights. On Christmas Day a note appeared under the door saying that the room would not be serviced on that day - fair enough. That is understandable. But on arrival there was only one coffee mug, on the other days the servicing was rather slapdash. On two occasions we had to go back to reception and ask for a second towel as only one had been left - tea and coffee were not replenished - again it meant trips to reception. Our daughter and her boyfriend stayed one night in a room near us and there were hairs in the sink and shower. In all fairness the receptionist took £30 off their bill and gave them two free drinks in the bar. So fair play for doing that. Reception also dealt with our issues quickly and efficiently and I cannot fault them for putting things right. However, it did mean a trip back to reception to get things sorted each time we returned to our room each evening. We haven't had this problem before at the Mercure in Wetherby - and it would not stop us staying again or suggesting to others that they should stay - it is an easy walk into Wetherby. My guess is that they were short staffed over the Christmas period and the room servicing reflected that.

We asked for a Classic Room, the young man on reception was very helpful, but we were very disappointed when we got to the room. There was dirt on the floor, the bath was dirty, plumbing looked third world in the way it had been finished and the shower curtain filthy, carpet coming up in room corridor, toilet handle coming off the wall and only working intermittently, room cold. We went to reception, the young man asked us to look at another room which was similar to what was described above, he then took us to a third room which was slightly better, but by that stage we had had enough. He was very apologetic, mentioned that the rooms were being refurbished. This was after trying to book a room advertised at £56 which then had taxes added to it which brought it up to £86. We often stay in budget hotels, Holiday Inn, Premier Inn, Traveldge etc and this is by far our worst experience to date. We wouldn’t recommend your service at all. Chap on reception did his best and deserves a mention!

Our 2 night stay. The sheets and towels were changed and clean. The room had not been cleaned , dirty cups and surfaces from the previous occupants, were still in evidence. On night 2 we arrived to find locked out of the room and had to ask reception to admit us, they appeared to be unaware we were staying 2 nights.On entering the room had been cleaned and beds made.Breakfast was excellent, staff very helpful and courteous.I made comments on leaving.
