Location brilliant, easy to get to and great access to Manchester. Hotel very tired however clean and tidy. Most of the staff lovely and can’t do enough for you, including the manager who was great at sorting out our room when the shower didn’t work. Moved to a different room with no problems. Food, depends if there’s a wedding on or not I’m guessing. The first night we had a few snacks and it was amazing. Home made chips, staff couldn’t do enough for you. Second night frozen chips that tasted warmed up - maybe left overs from the wedding. Service poor, left to wait for a long time for both food and drinks. Staff clearly very stressed, swearing in front of guests who they didn’t know were there.

It was hot and the hotel was pretty empty so I wasn’t that happy to be stuck in a room in roof next to the lift motor room. No room upgrade for gold membership offered. Staff were helpful with a fan (small) but the place was in need of a refresh. Breakfast was decent enough.

On arrival we stood at reception for maybe 5 mins before the receptionist turned up. There was no way to summon attention and no apology when she arrived. Our room was ok but in need of some TLC. There had clearly been some painting done, as there was paint splatter on the bedside cabinet, no one thought to cover it or clean it? It looked as though there had been a leak from the room above as the artery was coming away from the ceiling where there was a large unsightly crack. Some rooms have had refurbishment, this one needs it. Breakfast was a fiasco! Because of covid you had to choose a time slot for breakfast. We were up earlier than expected so rang you see if we could come down earlier but we’re told that these slots were full. We arrived at our allotted time, my wife said she didn’t want all to cooked breakfast just eggs & bacon, that wasn’t an option full breakfast only ‘just leave what you don’t want’! Having sat for nearly half an hour we asked where our cooked breakfast was, we’d been told they would bring it straight out when we sat down. The chef was apparently cooking a lot of breakfasts! 10 o’clock arrived and so did the next sitting! What is the point of booking time slots if the chef can’t cope? When you know how many people will arrive for breakfast, at a given time and still can’t get the food out, then there’s a problem with the chef! As we went to checkout, there was another guest at reception complaining about the breakfast service and making it clear he wouldn’t be paying for it!

The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Good hairdryer and would stay again. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend asking for a bath mat as the bath was very slippery.

Just stayed one night with dog, didn’t eat/use facilities. Staff welcoming at check-in, bar staff offered bowl of water for dog, happy to open bar in the morning to fill bottles of water. Asked for a fan as room was very hot&humid and someone brought it up promptly, however this didn’t do much to make the room more bearable and dog was quite restless due to heat. Rest of communal areas in hotel seemed significantly cooler than our room so may have been unlucky but not a refreshing nights sleep!

Room was poor as it was in desperate need of updating. Chair had a large rip in it, Wardrobe had holes and the bathroom needed modernising or at least painted as it had flaked away in quite a few places. If you want an evening meal make sure you take some extra food. Ordered the curry and got 4 small pieces of chicken, 8 chips and a small spoon of rice. The naan bread was bite sized, so not value for money.

Arrived 745am but allowed us into the room for a £20 surcharge. Good value. We were staying 2 nights and we knew that on the morning of our departure it would be too early for breakfast. They kindly allowed us to have a breakfast on the day of check in instead . The boy on reception was definately on the "right bus"

Staff are very good, food had issues, room was dirty, we pointed out issues with food on 1st night and staff went the extra mile on the 2nd night, but with the other issues we had still made it feel that the birthday weekend trip for my partner got spoilt
