This is a well located hotel, near the centre of Manchester, beside the trams and one tram stop from Piccadilly train station. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom clean and comfortable with a view over Piccadilly Gardens. The breakfast was good, but expensive. Ask for poached eggs if that is your taste. The evening meal menu is limited and we found the restaurant was cold. There was a problem with the room keys which had to be re-charged twice. Annoying when we were on floor 11 and there was a queue at reception. It was irritating to be told the reason was keys were near our mobile or credit cards. They were not!

We have just got back from a weekend in this hotel, staying in the superior suite, initially we were really impressed with the room, however almost immediately noticed that the sideboard and desk in the lounge had been pulled off the wall and were loose and wobbly, after around an hour we realised that the heating was blowing cold air despite being set to 30°c, maintenance came to the room and agreed that it wasn’t right and arranged for us to get an extra space heater, however I’m presuming they have a safety cut off due to the fire risk so they provided very little heat, Zohaib (hopefully spelt right) and the security guard working that night (14/03) were wonderful and gave us extension leads and a third heater to try and keep us warm, extended our late check out, and added breakfast onto our booking, although we did explain that we don’t eat breakfast, although the only vegan menu item was sausages, and assured us it would be passed onto the day shift to find us another suite the following day, we were unable to sleep due to the cold and had to sit on the floor pressed against the heaters to keep warm, resulting in a bruised coccyx and being very tired and sore the next day, we were finally managing to get some sleep once the sun was up and the room naturally warmed a little, when housekeeping woke us up shouting outside the room, we hadn’t heard from reception so I used the chat feature on the QR code to ask about the room change Mel from reception was a ray of sunshine and came to look at the heating, she told us they had forgotten to activate it in our room, before going to speak with who I presume was the deputy manager, the presumed deputy arranged for us to change rooms, which was lovely although we requested to do it later in the day due to trying to sleep, she was very friendly and understanding Around 10mins later as we had just fallen back to sleep the hotel manager came and told us that we had 25minutes to move rooms as they wanted to give our room to someone else, we were offered help with our belongings which we said yes to, although this then wasn’t provided, we ended up having 2-3hrs sleep after driving for 6hrs to stay in this hotel, being awake all night, and being in pain which put a dampener on the event we were there to attend, we asked about the complaints process on the Sunday morning and the duty manager was very friendly and made a note of it but nothing else was said to us about it, although he was kind enough to give us a glass of champagne each, the very minimum you expect from a hotel is a comfortable place to sleep, let alone from the “best” room available, so “we forgot to turn your heating on” is a beyond lacklustre response

On arrival had a complementary glass of bubbles, which felt really special. The person checking me in was great, so polite, welcoming and friendly. Room was lovely, great views. Very comfortable bed and lovely and quiet at night. Overall a really great experience.

Hotel is in desperate need of an update, everything is very tired and falling apart. - Beds are uncomfortable and broken - Show is only tall enough for someone under 5 foot - TV didn't work (remote had to be replaced and then there were no channels) - Key card deactivated 3 times in 2 days
