My colleague and I were working away during a difficult period and were looking forward to a place to rest our heads ready for a second busy day. We were greeted by Dan who was very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We got to our rooms to find them literally freezing, both of them having the same issue. My colleague Ellie rang reception and Dan came to our rescue with some radiators, he explained that the air con can pull through cold air from the roof. He offered for us to switch rooms, but at this point it was past 10:30pm at night so thought it too late, plus we thought the radiators would do the trick. Both of us had an incredibly cold nights sleep, wearing several layers just to finally get to sleep. We awoke in an ice cold room, freezing as we got ready, very uncomfortable. On departure, we were "greeted" by a very miserable Wes, who didn't ask us how our stay was and looked quite frankly like he didn't care. I asked about extending the parking with him, to which he replied he couldn't do from the Reception desk, however I told him that Dan had done it from reception last night and low and behold, Wes was able to "access" the parking system. He then continued to be less than helpful to which I thought enough was enough and gave up to walk out of the hotel. We won't be staying again, and the only reason I scored at all was because of Dan, who is a credit to your team...

The room was cold rang the reception i fiddled with the monitor where the heating is turned on and off from but still room wasnt getting warm. Got plugged in heaters 2 of them which didn't make a difference.

A Little Rough around the edges but an excellent stay

The Mercure Manchester Piccadilly might be a little rough around the edges in terms of decor and furnishings however you will not find a finer hotel for the hospitality that you will receive. All of the staff that I interacted with from reception to housekeeping were exceptionally friendly, professional and efficient, nothing was too much trouble and all aimed to ensure that your stay was exceptional; going that extra mile without question. The hotel requires a little TLC, some of the furnishings and decor are a little dated yet functional. The outside needs a very good clean. The bed was extremely comfortable and was complimented with superb pillows and duvet which were encased in nice crisp white linen. The hotel was clean and tidy; the Covid 19 protocols and protection in place were very accomplished. An improvement to the meagre and very disappointing breakfast bag would be welcomed I am sure by all guests. Overall I can highly recommend this hotel.

My recent stay was exceptional from the moment I checked in to the moment I left. Due to my job, I didn't check in until 2145hrs, but this didn't compromise my welcome or my stay. I was given a very warm and cheery welcome. With the situation in the UK as it is, check-in wasn't as quick or straightforward as it normally is, there were a few extra forms to be filled in, an ID check and I to explain the reason for stopping, but this was made simple and didn't seem like a chore. If I had known prior to arrival that they needed to see my work ID; I would have removed the stickers and googly eyes, to save my self the embarrassment. Haha. From there; the changes to the hotel were explained and any questions I had at that point were answered. The staff made little alterations for me during my time there, so that my stay was the best it could be, such as; ensuring my breakfast was delivered to my room before 0600hrs rather than 0700hrs, as I left for work at 0645hrs. The rooms were perfect and the little additions made them homely and comfortable. Noise wasn't an issue either; the windows were almost sound proof, even with my room looking out onto the noisy Piccadilly Gardens, this meant working both days and nights during my stay- I got a fab sleep. Any little issues I had, once raised with reception were rectified. These were things that unless raised by a guest, housekeeping or estates would never know about. Cleanliess was brilliant around the hotel too, something that at the moment is very important. Alongside this all staff were donned with PPE and wore it correctly, which was good to see. Two Staff I wish to mention, who made a difference to my stay and really went above and beyond were Dan and Wes. These two incredible gentleman are a real asset to the company and couldn't have done anything more for me. 2020 has been an incredibly tough year for everyone. However, those in hospitality haven't received the same support as other industries, yet you're just expected to muddle through and succeed. But please know that you're smashing it!! You would have never known that the hotel was operating at reduced levels, as professionalism and quality was maintained at all times. I can't wait to return in the near future, no doubt with work, and then hopefully later on in the year for lesure. Keep up the hard work; the dedication to your job and your guests really does shine through!!

Friendly, helpful staff - your biggest asset - made my stay very pleasant. I thought that the hotel and my room were clean and safe and I enjoyed my stay. There were minor stay issues around confirming my card, also whether breakfast would be charged or complementary - it was the latter and very nice - but there's were resolved without issue. I would definitely stay at the Mercure again.

The problem started as soon as I walked through the door, they supposedly said that they couldn't find my booking, so I would say we spent a good 10 minutes trying to investigate. I was taken up to reception where I was eventually checked in. I wasn't so keen on the member of staff who was checking me in as he kept calling me "mate", I'm not your mate from the pub that meets you every weekend, I am a paying customer! I don't expect to be called 'Sir' but just using my name would have been suffice.

Overall it was good, upon entering the room despite seeing the sign on the door about how well the room had been cleaned we arrived to two dirty coffee cups. I was also quite disappointed with the breakfast cost. On the app for members the cost of room plus breakfast was £57 however it wasn’t very clear via the app whether this would be continental or full English therefore I didn’t book this. Upon check in I checked this and was charged £62.75 for the breakfast and room so this was disappointing.

Lovely room, comfy bed, nice and clean, can let air in the room through the window, nice shower pressure. Air temperature controlled room and great amenities. Had a great night which was slightly interrupted with a big problem with Uber eats, I recommend you don’t use them. But the concierge really tried to help us and the kitchen did offer to still serve us food after hours, which was out of my budget. I did appreciate the offer. The trouble taken to try and sort was appreciated. The concierge especially was fab, understanding and really helpful. If you guys have a reward system for colleagues I recommend he gets one. Was 9pm on Thursday night. Sorry I can’t remember his name. Lovely guy, great customer service! Great deal on the room, such a shame lock down is upon us again, cause I would of liked to stay in the Mercure again soon. But after it, I would definitely book again with you guys!

Poor housekeeping, always problem with the hotel key card, issues with the shower and room phone

The hotel advert picture from the outside looks really welcoming however there is a decline around the Piccadilly area where the hotel is located, too many people sleeping on the side walks the smell of wee drugs was noticeable and police needing to calm disturbances late into night, is not welcoming or good advertisement for a hotel chain like Mercure. Get the council to do something about it the company does pay business rates does it?

Location for Manchester centre was perfect. All staff were incredibly accommodating. Rooms were average but more than acceptable for a city centre location. Price was excellent with an accor members deal.
