The hotel was tired and is in need of a revamp throughout. Our first room had no cold water in the tap or cistern but was far better than room 506 which we were moved into. This room was cramped and dark. The water pipes thundered whenever anyone else used thd bathroom in this blick, totally upsetting any sleep. The staff were very pleasant but seemingly lacked any management. Not impreesed and will not be staying in this property again. The 4 Star rating advertised by Mercure is way off the mark and leads me ti be skeptical as to the groups control over the premises.

I’m particularly sorry about the problems you encountered with your initial room, including the lack of cold water, and the concerns you raised after being moved to room 506. The issues you describe with noise from the pipework and the impact on your sleep are clearly not acceptable, and I appreciate how frustrating this must have been. Your comments regarding the condition of the rooms and the overall presentation of the hotel have also been noted. While we do work continuously on maintenance and improvements, it is clear that on this occasion we did not deliver the standard you expected or deserve. I am however pleased to hear that you found the staff to be very pleasant. I’m sorry you felt there was a lack of visible management support during your stay — this will be shared with the leadership team for review. We also take your feedback regarding the hotel rating seriously. Standards and guest expectations are very important to us, and your comments will be used as part of our ongoing review process with the relevant stakeholders. Thank you again for your honest review. The one thing that let it down was the lack of knowledge of some of the staff. Some of them struggled to know what to do when presented with a basic question, or work out how to achieve a basic element of looking after a guest.

Room was large and nice and quiet. Great breakfast. There were a few items missing from the evening meal menu which was a bit strange, bearing in mind the hotel plans the menu.
