Stayed for an event, the grounds are lovely, although the car park had rubbish in it. The public areas are beautiful but the rooms are dated and tired. The new key card system, did not work, so we had to go to reception several times to get the cards reset.

We came for a reunion and stayed 2 extra nights. Receptionist lady was extremely helpful with room bookings and directions to places. The reunion staff - Rocky and the bar man Luis were great, as was the experienced gent in the resturant - i do not recall his name. Other staff, were all a bit new and needed a lot more direction!!! Breakfasts were a bit changeable - different procedures on all days - but food was enjoyable when the 'correct' order arrived. Location super - but geting to the hotel on the first time was interesting.

Not so good

Our group stayed for 2 nights whilst working in the area. My room was spacious and was specced out as a wedding venue. The staff were friendly and the food was good.

Good Location for exploration

The Check-in was quick, efficient and very friendly, We had an Accessible room. It was very comfortable, but there is a problem that the hot water to the sink is at best tepid. The shower on the other-hand, is really good. The complementary drink was very good and welcome! The Hotel's location is excellent for heading out towards Somerset and possibly even Gloucestershire, as well as Bristol. It might be a good idea to provide guests with details of the Park and Ride for Bristol as parking in Bristol City Centre is very expensive and I think that the Guests would be very appreciative.

Good stay pity about the departure

All well until we had to pay the bill. Originally signed up to offer of bed breakfast and evening meal at £135. This was confirmed on arrival. When leaving I was told the bill was not ready. I went back after breakfast and was told the bill was £190. I said that was not correct but no paperwork produced. I was the told the bill was £160. I said that was not correct, the bill should be £135 plus a beer and a wine. I said I would sit outside until the correct bill appeared. After a considerable wait and several personnel coming to explain, I was told that it was all sorted without being given explanation. I was told I could go. I have received no bill, but the correct amount was charged to my credit card.

Poor and dated

Absolute nightmare! Constant noise from generator or pipes. Requested to move rooms and was told that the noise would stop in the evening and come back on in the morning..instead went on all night. Even went to reception at 12.30am to try and get moved but no one at reception. So I was blatently lied to my face that the noise would stop. Kept me up all night..and ended up with a headache. I complained to reception in the morning and was told that room does have a problem, so why would you put paying customers in there???....I had chosen this hotel due to the fact it was out of the city centre and did not want to be disturbed by passing traffic or people..but i would have had a better nights rest sleeping on the streets of Bristol!!!!...and thats a fact!!!... There was a dead dragonfly pressed aginst the net curtain which also had a hole in it! No biscuits with the tea & coffee facilities! One toothbrush to be shared with the two of us! Stain on one of the towels which were hard as rock! Waitress in the evening didn't have a clue what she was doing. Asking us if we were table 10? do we know? Then gave me my plate which she said was chicken that ended up being fish! Toffee pudding was burnt and sauce so sweet. Unpleasant to eat. Dead flies along the window seal of the restaurant... Alarm going off at 11pm..just as well I was awake! The fact I had to go to a funeral the next day having had no sleep made me very restless & annoyed. In all a very disappointing stay, which will NEVER be repeated. Need to get this place sorted! And to be told by reception staff when i was complaining that 'ok I have had my say' is not very professional...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Large wedding party in progress when we arrived that went on with a very loud disco till midnight then took 2 hours to pack equipment away in van making a lot of noise in doing so, got virtually no sleep, had we been made aware prior to arrival we would have cancelled, restaurant staff were excellent, unfortunately the same can't be said for the breakfast as non of it was cooked fresh from ordering, bacon and sausage was both leathery and cold also beans were cold and hash browns were like road chippings.

Loud music till 00.00 on a Sunday with a huge party and screaming kids running through the whole hotel. We were not told it would go on till midnight... Room was not cleaned, asked why, told it needed to be requested, was not told this on check in. Then requested it and didn't receive it! Shower was inadequate, bathroom was dated and horrible. Room was also dated and very warm. Staff were mediocre and very unapologetic for problems easily fixed. Just a poor stay to what we are used to from Mercure.
