Well located. Sadly couldn’t sleep well as you can’t open the windows more than 3” which in hot weather is ridiculous, so disappointed about this as never really have a night away & was looking forward to a nice sleep with fresh air through the window. Was provided with a fan but can’t sleep with noise, which is why we chose this hotel for being a peaceful place. Need to be able to open windows properly in the summer months or provide air conditioning. Global warming is happening & we need fresh air!

However, we are sorry to learn that your stay was affected by the temperature in your room and that this impacted your sleep. For health and safety reasons, our windows are fitted with restrictors and can only be opened a limited amount. We understand that during warmer weather this may not always provide the level of ventilation guests would prefer. While we do offer fans to help keep rooms comfortable, we appreciate that these are not suitable for everyone. Your comments regarding room temperature, ventilation, and air conditioning have been noted and will be shared with our management team for consideration as we continue to review ways to improve our guests' comfort. Lovely grand picturesque buildings set in extensive green tree lined acreage. The welcome from Solveigna was warm, bubbly and genuine. Room was ready early, with and a fan running to cool the room ( no air-conditioning in rooms, but air-conditioning in bar/dining rooms). Clean and comfortable room, comfortable bed, good shower. There appeared to be a good number of competent and friendly staff at all times in the public areas and during our stay, there was never a wait for service. The only disappointment was the evening meal. Offered a "special meal deal of a e course dinner for £26pp we were presented with a fairly restricted menu, which we chose not to go with, instead ordering from the full menu. Disappointingly, the menu essentially consisted of the standard English Pub choices, instead of that befitting the grandness of Bowden Hall. But worse, was the fairly poor standard of the meals. I had sea bass and it was dried out, tasteless and I could not even cut through the skin it was so "leathery". My wife had the lamb kofta which again was dry and of a disappointing standard. We were too tired to send the meals back and wait for a replacement, so ate the accompanying veg & side salad and went to bed. We had breakfast and again, ample staff levels ensuring no one was left waiting. The choice and standard was good, if a little limited, but quite enjoyable. Would we stay again? Definitely, we loved our stay and the staff - but we would go elsewhere for dinner.
