very welcoming staff, friendly and efficient. It felt like I was staying with friends in their home......nothing was too much trouble. Environment relaxing, lovely grounds and in a quiet and beautiful surroundings. Breakfast extensive, enormous self service and healthy choices and alternatives cooked fresh on request.

Main area like bar and lounge are lovely as is the view. Room fairly clean but carpet was poorly kept with areas cut out of it like it had been stained. I know it’s an old building and we were on the top floor but it was very warm-also loud, we heard the persons alarm go off in the room next door. Pillows weren’t comfy so my sleep quality was poor.

Pretty tired hotel, clean enough but lots of stuff not right. Tv just had no signal no matter what, really low water pressure in the shower. Light fittings / lamps alarmingly wobbly. Food nice and staff very friendly though, can’t fault them.

I was situated in room 240. The room was tidy and clean but it's location meant I had all the noise at the back of the hotel when laundry services visited about 9 pm on Tuesday 24th of February 2026. Then around 1.30am there was noise in the corridor. Also on the floor below me throughout my time in the room a door slamming could be heard with no consideration to guests. Finally when staying for an evening meal with a colleague at the hotel that night, the restaurant wouldn't take AMEX despite it being out companies standard payment method and the method used to pay for the room. The grounds and building, staff were great but I dipped out on the noise front.
