Mercure Wolverhampton Goldthorn Hotel 3 stars

Hotel staff extremely friendly this was my 4th stay would not hesitate to return and recommend to my friends thank you Wolverhampton

This visit must be the 5th time we have stayed there in 8 years. Very welcoming receptionist on arrival. Disappointed to learn that the swimming facilities were no longer available. Room was acceptable and away from the busy main road. Lovely lady called Lisa looked after us during our stay at mealtimes. The hotel is wilthin walking distance of the City and a lovely park so we had plenty to occupy us. The service provided by the staff over the two days we stayed there was excellent. The evening meals and breakfasts were lovely and the all inclusive drinks at night were the icing on the cake..! However... There was a wedding party of about 6 women staying in the same wing as us for the two nights. Both nights up until the early hours consisted of a cacophony of screeching, raised voices and hysterical laughter. I initially thought a large party were fighting in the corridor...! I appreciate they were out to enjoy themselves but they were excessive with little regard for other customers. That said..the customer care exhibited by the staff in the hotel was really nice to see and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.

No hot water in the room on the evening, had to have a cold shower which was very unpleasant. Breakfast was very poor. The bacon was extremely tough, dry and inedible, fried egg not cooked enough, very slimy. I complained about the hot water or lack of it and all got was a sorry, no compensation.

Great bedroom with 4 poster bed. Really helpful staff. Tasty and hot breakfast served very quickly. Only problem is they need lights between the main building and the business centre as it's very dark walking across the car park at night back to your room if you're in the business centre.

The hotel had everything except staff and any wow factor. Creaking floors, adequate but small room (only a single) with a very comfortable bed and a working bathroom which did not spray shower water onto the floor. Good choice for breakfast but evening meal a bit bland. Price all-in was good.

Badly lit car park especially nr the hotels rooms above the buisness centre , needs more cctv Always a struggle to get a drink in the bar area not enough staff , Jodie on reception was always helpful and pleasant

The hotel worked well for us as a family a few years ago though it needed a bit of ongoing investment and maintenance as well. That investment has clearly not been happening and the place is gradually going to seed, which is really sad to see. I switched room from the main building (58, like an oven and a bit noisy) to the business centre (82, more spacious, less worn out and quieter) which was much more pleasant. The staff were obliging enough.

I stayed at your hotel to attend a local gig, which was only around the corner (hence why I stayed at your hotel). I've stayed at many different Accors throughout England and Scotland and found this hotel to be very lovely downstairs. Reception staff were very helpful. The Manager was very chatty and informative about places to visit but the room that I stayed in wasn't the best Accor experience. The bedroom is quite small. The window was rotten and it didn't lock. A previous occupier of the room had decided to put their fist through the back of the bathroom door (obviously to no fault of the hotel) but it was just the small touches that slightly let it down. That said; the bar price was reasonable, and the bar itself was lovely. I didn't have a breakfast so I can't comment but the restaurant looked very well presented as I walked past. Having a car park at an Accor (free as well) is always a nice touch.

Very tired hotel. Expected a much higher standard for the Mercure brand. This does not even cover the Ibis Budget standard.

The images advertised are NOTHING like what was provided. Images show clean, smart and well decorated rooms, the room I personally got had old, hanging off wallpaper around the room, small and compact even though I paid for the higher level double room. My colleagues bedding was dirty, sadly never noticed till the next morning and room was also have similar dis-repair. The food on offer was.. dismal so we oupted to eat out. Wouldn't sure Mercure again.

The first room I was allocated was adequate, but the TV did not work. I was told this has been the case for days by reception staff. The 2nd room was drab, noisy and in some need of updating. Food in the bar during the evening appeared to me to be microwave food charged at restaurant prices.
