The images advertised are NOTHING like what was provided. Images show clean, smart and well decorated rooms, the room I personally got had old, hanging off wallpaper around the room, small and compact even though I paid for the higher level double room. My colleagues bedding was dirty, sadly never noticed till the next morning and room was also have similar dis-repair. The food on offer was.. dismal so we oupted to eat out. Wouldn't sure Mercure again.

The first room I was allocated was adequate, but the TV did not work. I was told this has been the case for days by reception staff. The 2nd room was drab, noisy and in some need of updating. Food in the bar during the evening appeared to me to be microwave food charged at restaurant prices.

Stayed for a party. Great space, staff very helpful, professional, polite. Bedroom was basic but had everything I needed, clean. Provided toiletries. Breakfast wasn't very good, lacklustre and basic produce but for price paid for package was fine.

Well located but no lift was a challenge.

The staff were very friendly. It was an excellent breakfast. The hotel was clean but the pool looked derelict and also the building by the back exit. The grounds are in need of attention. We stayed in The Business Centre it was very nice.

Good service from staff as usual namely from Faith, Lisa, Sophie, Jodie, Luke, Hugh and chambermaids who I do not know names of. Downside was that the only bar used was closed for private parties on Friday night, Saturday night, and sunday afternoon making it difficult to get served for drinks in the reception area. Receptionist had to keep leaving her work to deal with customers. Also meant unable to watch football on the BT channels at those times. Many from coach went to room without drinks, or went out.

Large car park and excellent welcome by the receptionist. Free newspaper for you to keep and the reception is nice and bright but. The journey to the room is dark because of the wall colouring, needs updating. The way to the room is like a maize, going up stairs and corners and doors. My room had a double bed for just myself which was nice. The room had Earl Grey tea for me which I requested and there was biscuits as well. The bathroom was a bit outdated, lovely hot water for the shower but the large towels are a bit small. The location is excellent, superb Indian restaurant 15 minute walk from the hotel, Waitrose across the road and Sainsburys a 2 minute drive away and the cheapest petrol and diesel I have seen. The breakfast was slow in coming out but you cannot fault the friendly staff and their willingness to help.

The room, decor and dining room are all dated, broken doors, broken windows, the double bed is two singles put together. If you want a cheap and cheerful bed for the night and you don’t care about the issues about. It’s fine. Making the experience all the better we’re the amazing staff! In particular the wonderful woman at reception (Jodie). Nothing was too much trouble, I asked for iron and ironing board and within minutes it arrived, received a really friendly welcome and it is only due to that service is why I have booked to stay again next week.

My room was a little dated, and the bathroom floor was cracked, wonky and felt like it might cave in at any moment! The main issue I had was in the restaurant. I ordered the chicken tikka with the side options (naan, samosas etc. for an extra £4). When my meal arrived, it looked reminiscent of a ready meal, and when I took my first bite of the chicken, it was stone cold and pinkish! This was obviously not only disappointing, but also worrying from a food safety perspective. The meal was replaced, and whilst it was warm (ish) on this occasion, the overall taste and meal quality was not very good. When you consider I paid £16.95, I was expecting more. The staff were kind and helpful.

Firstly given freezing cold room with no working heating, also no working TV. Asked for another room, kindly given a free drink to compensate for inconvenience. Second room ok, no problems apart from party going on downstairs with music that was so loud the walls were vibrating, plus a very loud DJ. I asked when the noise would end and it did finally conclude at 10.20 pm. In my view this is very late for customers who simply wanted a place to sleep. I think the Goldthorn needs to decide whether it's a pub or a hotel. It's not big enough to do both. I certainly won't be booking there again.

On arrival we had a warm welcome. Our check in was very smooth and all necessary information given clearly. Room was very comfortable and warm and both room and bathroom were extremely clean. Excellent breakfast next morning. Receptionist amazing.

I had a good stay over the Christmas period and was given the room that I wanted. The room was cleaned to a good standard and supplied with the extra items that help with a short stay. The TV was in a good position. I enjoyed a quality breakfast each morning of my favourite items the chef gave the cooking good attention and provideded an excellent meal on most of my mornings. The reception area was of good appearance and complementary newspapers and sheets were welcome. The hotel is in a good place near Wolverhampton and a Waitrose with a bus stop outside and KFC and McDonald's nearby.
