The reality of our experience paled in comparison to the grandeur of the potential experience the website seemed to promise. At one point we thought of losing the money and just get another place in town. We didn't enjoy the trip at all. Cobwebs on the stairway and rooms. Hair on the pillow, rugs very old and not properly vacuumed, as well as the curtain. Staff seemed aloof as though they were doing us a favor. Scoring our experience a 4 was being conservative quite honestly!

The hotel is in a nice location and steeped in history. A very nice breakfast. The first room we were offered, the bathroom wasn't particularly clean, we looked at 2 other rooms and eventually settled on the 3rd room, although that could have been cleaner. The staff are friendly and always willing to help. The dinner menu choice is a little limited, so not wonderful if you stay more than a couple of days. The double bed was 2 singles pushed together, so the mattress wasn't too comfortable. Plumbing in the bathroom isn't wonderful as it does make a lot of noise.

At check in asked if the hotel was busy, was told No, then asked to be upgraded as gold member, but was told not possible, unless I paid. Then I had to ask for drinks voucher, clearly reception didn't know about gold benefits. Room didn't have shower gel, asked for it twice, never received it. Apparently accor covid policy is not to clean the rooms until you check out, then at least leave a bag by the door with new towels, toiletries and coffee. Overall not great experience.

Due to the covid-19 rules for hotels, we are not allowed to enter your room, when you checked in you would of received a welcome letter as to what has changed, it does state on this that if you require anymore linen or towels we will provide you with these. Impressive historic looking residence at first glance - I really did not arrive in time to take a look about as I only stayed for an overnight sleep and shower. A pre-dawn departure meant that I didnt get to try a breakfast served from 0800 on a Saturday. Comfortable bed, clean bedding, kettle, cups with Tea, Coffee and biscuits - hot and cold running water in the bathroom - good shower. It ticks all the boxes for my needs. Thank you to the staff in these difficult times. Please get in touch to refund the over-payment.

Nice location room too hot and could be cleaner

Central heating was on and and such the room was far too hot Also the cleanliness could be better numerous cobwebs were present which does makes me question was it deep cleaned especially with the current climate

Very helpful evening staff on reception, very polite restaurant staff. The food was okay but limited.I didn't really go away to have Chili and rice but didn't want pizza or pie either. I usually pick food I wouldn't have when at home. Breakfast was cold when it came, didn't eat hardly any.kitchen kept ringing the bell there was no waiting staff. No condiments, sauce or pepper. Cold toast came after the plate of cold food.Charlie in a bad mood,sullen when I asked her for tea. Charlie said wouldn't refund my breakfast as I had it and they couldn't get it back???? Atlanta helpfully stepped in and did apologise for Charlie's rudeness and refunded breakfast. Staff or the lack of can make or break a business.

Enabled me to travel there one day and back the next with a comfortable night's accommodation in between. Felt safe in terms of present health situation. Was not able to make use of evening meal or breakfast facility, because of commitments outside the hotel so cannot really comment on catering.

The team at Mercure Telford Madeley Court Hotel, made our stay pleasant and welcoming whilst also following the latest covid guidance which cant be easy for them. Nothing was too much trouble and our requests were delivered promptly to the room. An earlier breakfast was not a problem and the food both breakfast and dinner was excellent with table service. First class highly recommended.

When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and helpful. we were told where our room was (A Historical Room ) when we opened the door it really did have a WOW factor, it was stunning. we booked a table for dinner but was a bit let down by the full menu not being available. As we have said the staff that they had at the hotel did a great job in looking after us on our stay and we will be returning there very very soon.

Hotel was lovely, really nice setting however was a little difficult to find in the dark. The road to the hotel had a lot of deep pot holes however there was plenty of parking and well lit. Warm welcome at reception and hotel was very clean. Room was very hot as the heating was on all of the first night however cooled down the second night. Plenty of space in the room and very peaceful although a lot of the lights were not working in the room. Overall it was a good stay

It is a lovely building, but rooms in need of updating. The staff were patient and helpful under the very difficult circumstances imposed by Covid precautions. I think you need more cleaning staff. The lady we saw was trying her best but the poor level of cleanliness and hygiene in the room when we moved in was alarming during this pandemic. Your website should give more information about reduced services at this time ie no housekeeping, very limited restaurant services. Overall we enjoyed our stay largely due to the location and to the efforts of your staff

wonderful staff, morning and evening from Joe the receptionist to Sam the night manager and apologies if all staff not named. Brilliant historic building which we don't get bored of exploring. with beautiful surroundings. A pleasure to stay there. We stayed August this year and the improvements in one month are astonishing we have decided to book our wedding there for December this year which has been amazingly handled so far by the amazing staff members.

Almost like staying in a Stately Home

Wonderful old buildings made for a memorable stay. Very comfortable, clean room but insufficient tea and milk*. Bathroom fine but insufficient shower gel* (*the rooms were not serviced during our stay, presumably due to COVID so why not leave a sufficient supply for our 2 night stay?). Good parking but pot holes in entrance road. Sat Nav could not find the entrance - took is to an unmade road at the rear. Reception on arrival OK but poor directions to room (should have come out and shown us). Breakfast very good but black pudding awful. Cereals delivered in a paper bag – condiments supplied in little paper sachets ( very fiddly) sauces in annoying plastic sachets – very down-market. Toast was just dry bread. Waiting staff were not wearing face coverings and came too close for comfort when serving dishes – we felt uncomfortable. Some guests were also not wearing face masks – should be asked to wear them all the time inside except when seated for food and drinks. The bill E-mailed to me was incorrect – showed one additional dinner that we did not have so I phoned Reception and had to wait 4 minutes for a reply (not good enough).

Fantastic building with friendly, helpful staff who were coping well within COVID restrictions. They went the extra mile by giving us a tour of the historic parts of the building, providing a snack lunch on the Sunday we were there and special provision for a dietary need. We hope to return when restrictions are no longer in place and the usual dinner menu can be provided.
