Staff at check-in were great. Public areas smell stale. I had a living and a dead fly in my room. Also, a hair in my bed that did not belong to me. TV connectivity poor.

Room was clean and plenty large enough for me (twin room). Breakfast was nice with plenty of fresh fruit. Evening meals were delicious and I'd definitely recommend. Service was great. Stayed in this hotel as was attending a course there and the lunches were very nice. The room were the course was held was very spacious. No faults at all.

The outstanding feature of the Mercure, Bowdon, is the staff who, to a person, were courteous, helpful and did everything possible to make my stay enjoyable and hassle free. The duty manager on reception even undertook to post a letter for me when I enquired as to where I could find the nearest postbox. the food is excellent and, if the hotel furnishings are décor are a little tired, the staff more than compensate!!

No hot water in shower and no hot water in bath, will not be stopping here again.

Booked a park and stay from Manchester airport, Hotel were excellent, took care of everything even 2 very tired and jet lagged visitors on the way back even giving us a ground floor room so we didn't have to carry the big cases around. Clean and well equipped rooms, nice quiet location but very close to the airport by taxi which comes as part of the park & stay package Highly recommended

We stayed for 2 nights on the all inclusive package this was our second year of doing this and booked direct with the hotel who gave us discount. Every member of staff who we spoke to were friendly polite and extremely helpful from the manager reception staff, Jeremy behind the bar, Martin and Jane our breakfast waiter’s to the night porter who went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed including a jug of iced water to take to our room as bottled water was not available. Our room overall was adequate although their was a constant leaky bathroom tap and behind the sofa lots of dust and someone else’s sock suggesting it never gets pulled out and hoovered behind, but bed was clean and comfortable and the daily maid survive ensured we had clean towels and ample toiletries for our stay,

Firstly we arrived to hear that the spa was shut. We specifically stayed here in order to use the pool and sauna especially.

Hotel a little dated no lift to first floor and room was so hot I had to open to open windows which led to disturbed sleep.

Highly Variable - but Much More Good then Bad.

The Good... Perfect location for Hale and Altrincham, lots of free parking, the leisure club and the wonderful service from most of the team and Julita, Ben and Martin in particular.... thanks for making our 12 night stay enjoyable! The Bad... Having to ask housekeeping to make up the room on several occasions, despite the Please Service my Room sign on the door. The Ugly... The unfriendly and terse service from 1 member of staff which was in stark contrast to the rest of the team. The Practical... We needed space as we were staying for 12 nights. Julita organised a big bright room with an additional single bed for our 8yr old daughter and as this was a Superior rather than an Executive Room (which our Le Club Accor platinum membership would give us) Julita simply organised all of the Executive extras to give us the best of both worlds. Will come back again, when staying overnight in the Hale/Altrincham area.

Happily surprised as it was over Christmas and the service and care was great

They made us a family room as travelling with our 2 boys which apparently they don't usually have family rooms at this location. Our eldest is coeliac so gluten free and I know other Mercure hotels are amazing about this and have a great menu describing so (Noke, in St Albans) so I was worried about taking our son there. I spoke to Paul Rogers and he assured me they would be able to and I requested sausages as that's his favourite for breakfast. On Christmas Day, sure enough the sausages were cooked along with some has browns. Thank you

The hotel has been refurbished since I last visited. I Just stayed one night including breakfast. The only negative was a rather unfriendly receptionist, not a nice warm greeting and she was slightly patronising. The restaurant staff made up for it, especially one man, white European - possibly Italian? He was really lovely and made us very welcome even though my son arrived close to the breakfast closing time.

Room poor and very hot. Tried to open the window but had to prop it open to get some air in. When I closed the window which is a sash type, it trapped my hand causing a cut and bruising to my fingers. It’s ridiculous that you can’t open the window safely. The noise up till 4am was horrendous with drunken guests keeping us awake all night. The bathroom panel behind the toilet was temporary and a mess. All in all very poor quality room. Should not be offered to guests until sorted.

The room showed signs of damp, the hairdryer was faulty, the bath tap dripped incessantly, the bath leaked and the bedroom door rattled. The bar was often unmanned but the staff we did come across were very helpful and friendly.

Bathroom hadn't been cleaned, the toilet was flushed and the previous guest had left something behind in it. The bed was uncomfortable and the room was cold.

Very good. I stay about once every 6 weeks and have never stayed on a Sunday. The hotel was quite quiet, I had booked an executive room and was given an upgrade. Thank you. The bedroom was very nice indeed. The bathroom quite cold I think the windows need doing. Never-the-less I was given the upgrade which was much appreciated after a long trip and a very efficient check in service.
