Great location Great Hotel and awesome service

I have stayed there a couple of times a year every year since 2013. The location is really good, you can walk from the train station. Bakeries and food shops are close by. You can walk to the castle as well as downtown to all the shops, churches, bars and restaurants. There are busses right outside the door and the tram is not too far. The hotel is clean and well maintained and the staff is very accommodating. I read some reviews from others saying the beds were too hard, well, they have now replaced all the beds and they are very comfortable! The little kitchenette is handy for making your own breakfast, coffee etc. You can even make yourself a meal if you don’t feel like going out to a restaurant after a long day exploring this amazing city, The rooms are bright and clean and the bathrooms are modern. They have a laundry room where you can wash your clothes plus they have a small gym. The price is decent for a 4 star hotel. I have stayed in a couple of other hotels in caen that cost as much or more than Adagio and they don’t compare at all to everything this one has to offer. I read reviews from people saying you don’t get your room cleaned. That is not true. You get full housekeeping once a week and this policy is clearly posted. It is like a small apartment it’s not just a hotel room. There’s a dishwasher too and all the cleaning supplies are provided.

This aparthotel is largely used by people like myself, regular or longer term business travellers who want something other than a small-town hotel with a poor or non-existent restaurant (I'm thinking of the Mercure in Caen when I say that) and who need the flexibility offered by an apartment. The other group is tours and package holiday groups from Spain, Latin America and US of A amongst others. They do not seem to grasp the concept of the aparthotel so well sometimes, perhaps more communication is needed. The staff in the Adagio Caen Center are amazingly good, friendly and efficient. But it does not take a genius to see that the hotel sorely lacks investment. Recently the walls in the corridors have been painted and the windows cleaned throughout the hotel which is an excellent start, but the rooms need renovation (preferably with new bathrooms and decent beds) or at the very least a comprehensive deep clean program. Unfortunately the current covid19 situation will knock them back and I fear that the renovation program will be delayed. But it does not distract from the fact that this hotel is the best option for the categories of people I mentioned in the earlier paragraph - location is great, the rooms are spacious, there is a laundry onsite and a reasonable breakfast if you don't want to use your apartment for that. Plus, the railway station is just a few minutes away on foot, and you are in the historic centre of Caen in minutes as well. I really like this hotel and wish it well, but urge the owners to consider the rooms as the utmost priority for upgrades.
My 18th Stay

This was my 18th visit to the Adagio Caen. On my arrival I was greeted by the reception team by name and with a smile and eagerness to help. The checking in system is now mobile and seems much more personal than the computer. I realised I hadn't a pen (could guests be offered one to promote the hotel?) and the night staff reception immediately gave me one (so I could make notes for this report!) While the corridors await redecoration some of the lights set not working. I reported this and within one hour maintenance man Ethan had replaced the faulty bulb. I also found that there wasn't a try in my room (nor on my last visit!) but one was found immediately for me. As always I used the gym and the new running machine is excellent and a good standard. The nearby prairie provides a more `en plein air' but the gym is one of the reasons that I chose this hotel in the first place. The bike is now in need of repair or replacement. The straps are missing and it misses a beat every now and again. A new Watt bike and some shelving for the free weights would upgrade it to Olympic standard! It's a pity there weren't any sanitised wipes available but it was difficult times and I didn't ask for any. The new softer (but not too soft) beds are delightful. The sheet covers are really comfortable and with the quietness of my room I experienced five excellent nights sleep. The manager Jonathan Guilioux leads a great team who all seem to be motivated and focussed to provide an excellent service to their clients . It's a great idea to be able t borrow things, :pots and pans, toaster, rocking horse etc but how about lending egg cups and a Zimmer frame! Thanks for another great stay

The apartment was superbly designed with a large double bed (cosy animal pillows), kitchen and good sized bathroom to relax in.

The place was good because it was possible to reach the city center by walking. The apartment was nice. The parking was not easy to find.
