The hotel itself is clean and very well located. However the air conditioner in the room was defect. It was not possible to change the temperature in the room as it's managed centralized by the lobby. The temperature was around 19 degrees throughout the stay at room 009. I approached the staff three times to increase the temperature. However it didn't heat up the room. On the last day (third time I reached out to the staff), we were offered to change the room to 516. There the air conditioner was working and I was able to adjust it to my needs.

The hotel location is excellent, convenient for walking to nearby sites or for transport to venues further afield. Our room was quiet and comfortable and as frequent guests, we have nothing but high praise for the staff at this hotel. Our thanks to Thibault, Carolina, Thomas, Gilbert and Carlos, indeed all the reception team. They set a consistently excellent standard of assiduous care and friendly courtesy, making us feel we are very welcome guests. Nothing is too much bother. Over the years we have stayed in many hotels around the world and can honestly say we have never been better looked after - Mr Black, you have a world beating team at the Bloomsbury. They are to be valued !

Reception staff were very pleasant as were breakfast room staff with the exception of Robert. He gave a young waitress a dressing down in front of customers. Ironically, he was extremely unctuous with guests which I found a bit annoying. The room was on the small side with old furniture which was stained in places. Also, there were stains on the bathroom windowledge which the cleaners had missed but when highlighted were cleaned obligingly. The room was quiet even though the windows were almost directly above a pub. Overall , it was a pleasant stay .

Clean, comfortable bedroom, poor bathroom

Staff are great. Room was as expected and clean. Bathroom was not acceptable! One side of the toilet was up against the wall so you could not sit on it. The wash basin tap was fixed on the corner so made it impossible to wash hands without touching the basin. The shower was a trickle of water! Maybe I was just unlucky with all of the above in one bathroom!

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 10 years, it has always been a pleasant experience. The staff are pleasant and helpful. If you have a front facing room you should be aware of city/street noise throughout the night although they do provide earplugs should you wish them.

I would highly recommend the hotel except that the WiFi never worked during my 3 days in the room. It worked in the hallway and the lobby but not in my room. The staff was very nice and the location was super.

Few complaints on hotel room. After complaining at desk on check out, 2 times via email, twice over phone to staff with a very rude manners! Im still waiting for a response from Thibault Rocamora over email! Very disappointed!

I have to say that we were disappointed with our stay at your hotel. Tiny room, small and not comfortable bed. We got only one towel (we were a couple) for the shower and only 1 shampoo. Why? You knew we were 2 people. The toilet were not comfortable at all. You cannot sit comfortably and if you want to flush it- you have to remove one part of the toilet. It’s almost impossible to wash your hands too, because the tap is located on a non reasonable place. Plus, when ordering I mentioned we are coming to your hotel to celebrate my birthday but you did not see fit to mention it in any way.(in other hotels you get some attention).

Great location close to the British Museum with easy access to the Piccadilly Line through Russell Square station. The single room was comfortable and had everything I needed. The bathroom facilities were excellent.

As mentioned at checkout and also already in a Google maps review, overall as for all previous stays it was ok but just a few points : - WiFi system seems to have changed. We now need to login again and again very often. As you can easily guess, this is a very painful user experience - You should put real big mattress (at least in Kings Size Bedroom), instead of putting two single bed mattresses together. It's not the same experience in terms of having really a good sleep. - More fresh fruits at the breakfast buffet please Thanks

Good Position, Difficult to access on arrival

I was driving a hire car and wanted to deliver my luggage before returning the hire car. There was nowhere to pull up at the hotel. This is really not something the Hotel can address because of the position in central London, but keep it in mind and try to arrive when it's not too busy.

Received an upgrade which was very nice. Room clean and comfortable. It was just a bit hot at times and difficult to try and regulate the heat between the radiator and the air con unit, which wasn’t very nice to have in at night. Good breakfast with lots of choice.

Disappointing. Would have been better in a budget IBIS

Didn't start well with check in. Trainee on desk came across rude and not very welcoming. When he told me my stay was for 1 night and I stated it was for 2, he repeated that it was just for 1 night and then told me "but at least it's fully paid", it was only when I reached for my phone to get my confirmation that his colleague then confirmed it was for 2 nights. He then carried on with the check in process and didn't apologise for being so rude. I can honestly say that the room was the worst I have ever had while a member of Accor Loyalty Scheme. Firstly, when you opened the door there wasn't enough room for both me and my daughter to get into the room because the bed was straight in front of you. I can only describe the room as dark and grotty. There was no natural light in the room as the 2 windows obviously just overlooked brick walls and air conditioning units. The windows were frosted out and the net curtains were yellow and disgusting. The air conditioning unit in the room made so much noise that we couldn't keep it on as we couldn't sleep or hear the TV. Opening the bathroom window, the noise was terrible from air conditioning units, so it was a tough call which was the loudest. The shower head had been left hanging down presumably because the housekeeping staff couldn't reach to put it back on the arm it sits on. It clearly wasn't design for that shower arm and was way too high, it looked as though it should have been a super large shower head and had been replaced with a really small one. Staff on the reception during our stay were very friendly and our breakfast in the restaurant was very nice and so were the staff who worked there. At check out, the chap couldn't have been more disinterested with my feedback about the aircon and noise. I really do wish that I had booked a budget hotel as I am convinced it would have been more comfortable and much better value for money. I have stayed in The Mercure at London Bridge and a number of Novotels in London and they have all been excellent.
