The reception staff were really welcoming and professional. And very kind with my 5 year old. The room was a good size for London and we had a good nights sleep. The breakfast is varied enough. Good coffee. Loved that there was also a coffee machine in the room. I think a couple of the reviews I have seen are unfair/ overly fussy as price v quality for London this is really a great and friendly small hotel. I would have no hesitation about recommending or staying here again. We loved it.

What a joke. Don’t be fooled by the professional photos. The whole building is crumbling. Noisy plumb work and everything falling to bits! As for the cleaners, they must be on strike!! I won’t be staying there again!

First of all, it was a very good surprise to see the Fast CheckOut box - much more efficient and improved experience. The negatives: I have requested a quiet room not facing the street or near the lift - I got one on the corner facing the street and in front of the lift; the welcome tray has chocolate/ fruit - not hygienic as not wrapped; rather noisy in the evening when the guests return to their rooms; coffee/ tea not refilled after the first night.

We stayed in room 510 for 2 nights 27/28 December 2019, This room is quite small and extremely noisy all night due to what sounded like an air con unit running. The bathroom has a cracked sink a loose door handle and toilet seat should be obvious to cleaners to report these issues. Came back friday night to pungent smell from bathroom possibly from use of dirty cleaning cloths or mop,went to make a tea only to find no teabags,milk or biscuits, Both mornings woken by cleaners starting at 8-00am. not acceptable when you do not have to check out till 12-00pm.We have used Accor hotels several times and found this to be the worse one will not be using this one again. The only friendly staff were in the dining room at breakfast which we did find to be of quite reasonable quality. We think due to location and area of this hotel things should be a lot better.

Room was comfy except way too hot even for a cold, wet December. Even tough there was a thermostat and we turned it to the lowest setting possible, we were never able to cool the room down. Bathtub was very high to step over for shower. The majority of the staff was very nice and accommodating.

Overall my stay was good. I was taken aback by the first room assigned to me because it was too small for a 4* hotel. Eventually I asked to have the room changed and my request was acceded to without no problems at all. In any case room was clean and included all the little amenities that one would normally expect in a 4* hotel. Hotel staff was very good and corteous and breakfast was good as well. Location of hotel is excellent.

I stay at quite a few Accor hotels - Mercure is around the middle of the range for quality. Good location, reasonable value for London and it is certainly worth the extra instead of the nearby Ibis Styles.

Rooms are very small, bed creaked, crack in sink, rooms (hotel) needs a refresh / re-paint, expensive for what it is. If the hotel was not so well located for Kensington it would not be so busy. £175 for one night is not value for momey.

The most of the staff were trainees with a not understandable English. Service at the restaurant as well as at the breakfast room is so bad and poor. Nobody there had any proper education for gastronomy. Really, really embarrassing ... Also they really should change regularly the toilet brushes. What I found in my bath room was simply disgusting. So in total many opportunities to improve from my point of view.

Breakfast is served on a self serve buffet so that our guests can help themselves to as little or as much as they like. We have information on allergies & are happy to accommodate our guests in their needs. However, I do not see what the team will need to know in terms of "gastronomy", but I appreciate the feedback. The toilet brushes in all of our rooms are disinfected after each guest & changed on a regular basis in order to maintain hygiene levels. I have asked my head of housekeeping to double check the room that you stayed in & change if necessary. The location is really great. Fast access to some of the sights. Friendly and helpful staff. Plenty places to eat around. Science museum few minutes walking. Tube station 500 meters away. All in all I am quite satisfied.

Rooms in this hotel were very small and looked old and tired. As an Accor Hotels member I was expecting larger rooms and a more up to date feel for one of your hotels. For 2 people the room was very small, we stayed for 2 nights and each morning we had to take it in turns to get dressed and ready as there was not enough space for us to do this at the same time. The desk almost touched the bed at one side and the wardrobe almost touched at the other The bathroom was extremely small, you were virtually sitting on the toilet when you tried to use the sink. Also, the fixtures and fittings looked very old and worn, all the chrome had come off the taps in places so were down to the bare metal. However, the hotel was handy for where we needed to be and was clean.

BSBtraveller Solo travel - 18/05/2019 TripAdvisor review

I’m a top tier Accor loyalty member and was surprised that I did not receive the customary welcome drink or gift that ever Accor property affords to its top tier members. No big deal, they clearly don’t care about loyalty but the whole experience was lacklustre. Upon arrival the check in person could not have cared less about my arrival, I seemed to be annoying her by disrupting whatever she was doing. All the staff in the hotel (except one of the breakfast waitresses) were miserable. The hotel has one small lift which takes forever to arrive. The rooms are tiny - it’s London so I can accept that,but when everything else is so bad it kind of feels worse. The maintenance of the room left a lot to be desired with wallpaper peeling off, the shower head not working properly and the toilet taking 20-30 ministers to fill. The one good thing is the location which is very close to Earls Court station which worked for me in this trip.

I have taken some time to go through all of the reservations that we had over the past couple of weeks for guests from Australia. I can see that we have had quite a few, which is always great. Bar two of those reservations, which I checked in myself all others were booked via third party websites. When guests booked through these websites they are no longer entitled to any of the benefits that their membership normally allows them access to. This is the only reason why I can conclude that you did not receive drinks vouchers or the recognition that you deserve as a member of that level. However, I have been known to be wrong so if this is not the case then please contact me directly at the hotel so we can discuss your concerns in more detail. I am disappointed that you feel that our team could not "have cared less" about your arrival and that you felt that we were all "miserable". This is certainly not how we want to come across and in fact, in the vast majority of the reviews, I receive this is certainly not the case. The team are always described as polite, professional and willing to go that extra mile. It saddens me to think that you did not experience this and I will be highlighting your concerns as our next team meeting so that we can learn from it. I also appreciate the feedback you have provided on the other aspects of your stay and please be assured that I will be looking into these and addressing them. Once again, thank you for your review. Being a very loyal customer of Accor Group, i have been extremely disappointed fir this stay at Mercure Kensington London. This where you ask yourself why we should stay loyal to a brand... - they didn't find my reservationin the system (though made on website as always...). First time in 10 years loyalty - had to wait for 40 minutes before i got my key (past 9pm...) - got the worst room from the hotel (so small...) - amenities in the room where used and not cleaned - bottle of water already opened - no recognition at all of my loyalty status

Good Afternoon Eric L I have taken the time to read your email and the above TripAdvisor review in great detail. Please accept my sincerest apologies for the arrival that you experienced when you presented at the hotel to check in. As you are aware we did not have the reservation in our system. This was due to a technical issue between the website and our booking system. It is something that we have experienced with several bookings and are trying to rectify the problem as the two do not seem to be “talking to each other” like they should. Unfortunately, we are not aware that the booking has been made until the guest arrives at the hotel. However, I can see that the reservation was made and that you were checked in before 9 pm, a 20-minute wait in total from the time that you arrived in the hotel to the time that you received your keys. A wait that is still too long but the team then had an issue with the PC they were using to check you in so it made it a bit longer. Our loyalty members mean a great deal to us here at the Mercure London Kensington. We do our utmost to ensure that all of our members receive the benefits that they are entitled to. Unfortunately, due to the fact that the hotel was almost fully booked on the night of your arrival, we were unable to grant a complimentary upgrade for you. I am truly disappointed that you found the services in the room to be left in the manner in which you found them. This is not the normal level of service that we aim to provide our guests. I am currently completing a full investigation with the Head Housekeeper in our to ascertain how this happened and you can be assured that refresher training will be done with the full team to ensure that this type of situation does not re-occur. I do believe that the team also offered you the meeting room to use so that you could make the business call you needed to make and some extra drinks vouchers, all of which were declined. Small and uncomfortable

The room was small, considering it was the ‘privilege’ room and was not worth £170 a night. Hardly room to move and the bathroom was very small. The previous privilege rooms had a walk in shower and separate bath. This didn’t. The WiFi was a pain, could not connect and when I did it was slow. Not impressed.

The hotel is just a few minutes walk from the Earl's court station. The staff at the reception (Imed and Marlene) was very helpful and made sure that we are comfortable in our room and we have enough space so my daughter can also walk around. The staff at the breakfast place was nice as well and always serving with a smile.

Latest in our series of short breaks this year. Ideal hub to get to the city and down to Kew Gardens. Friendly and helpful staff as always. Comfortable bed and decent clean room. Just think of the traffic on Cromwell Rd as white noise surf and imagine the beach and all is good!
