This is popular for all the large groups coming to Zhangjiajie. These days, it’s mostly South Korean groups. There must’ve been a dozen or more tour buses in the parking lot. Breakfast buffet was pretty ok and on the mark for a solid 4 star fare. Not really much North American food, but still ok. The rooms were decent as well. The swimming pool is an outdoor pool and closed for 6 months until the warm weather returns. One has to walk outside to get to the breakfast area which is a little strange. The good thing is that it’s right next door to the popular show that takes place each night. I don’t believe there are any 5 star American hotels but this will be ok while here. Howard S.

Took a taxi from airport to Wulingyuan where the Pullman was located. For a whole 40 minutes I thought maybe we’ve arrived in a ghost area. Taxi went through ZJJ n then Wulingyuan. It was very very quiet in the streets. They were expecting us, one person, and the next morning at breakfast, again we seemed to be the only few in the restaurant with lots and lots of food! Similar to the Hampton, everyone on a tour would have finished by 9am. As we were touring by ourselves, this suited us. Off peak. There was a nice spacious reception, a lobby bar where they served afternoon tea and happy hours as the executive lounge was closed. That was a magnificent effort as we’ve been to some which you just accept that the lounge is not opened. However the room we were allocated has a lot of mould in the bathroom. The room director Frank, kindly offered to switch rooms. It was better but a much smaller room. The space of the allocated room in Hampton was definitely preferable to Pullman for our 4 night stay. There was a concierge Mark who willingly helped us to book tickets using his WeChat payment. He went above his duties to assist us. Thank you Mark. Taxis are 120 yuan but I believe you can get it 110 yuan to ZJJ where Tianmen Mt is, or The Glass Bridge, Great Canyon is. 80 yuan to high speed train station. These taxis were called for by the concierge so not metered. I believe it’s cheaper metered but the convenience was what we opt for. There is a restaurant on site in the evening, pizza was good but the fish fillet I had had quite a few bones. Informed the serving person but they take it that it should have bones. Very casual small town attitude- nothing wrong. Don’t expect 4/5 star dining or service. Pizza was ok. They also had local food served in the same restaurant. Closes at 10:30pm I believe. As you exit the hotel, turn left, stroll along till you cross a bridge, then turn right and that is the Main Street of Wulingyuan. Some shops and eateries. Also where Best Western Plus is. It is a 20 min walk to ZJJ mountain entrance or 10 yuan taxi ride. Would recommend staying here for 2 nights to visit ZJJ mountain and The Glass Bridge, maybe move to Hampton to visit Tianmen Mt and the town. They have different wings for the tour groups.

Check in process was good and fast. They took copies of our passports. Room was nice. Standard. Room safe wasn’t working. Told reception and they fixed the safe while we had dinner. Room was very hot. Fan at high doesn’t have cold air only warm air. Called reception and told them that there is no AC. They said AC is turned off. Asked them to turn on the AC and they refused to turn on the AC. Their reason is that outside temperature is cold and hence they turn it off. Requested multiple times for the AC to be turned on with no luck. WARNING. This hotel doesn’t care about customer comfort. They will not turn on the AC just because the outside is of a certain temperature.

This is one of the worst experience for 5 tar hotels. The room carpets are dirty , stinky . The bathroom are not sealed properly , so the water flows out of the shower . The rooms curtains cannot stop light , as soon as the there is light outside by 6am the room is lit. One interesting fact is all lights are linked to master switch . If you want to use bathroom light in the night, You have to switch on the master light which switch’s on every light in the room and wakes your partner up . Be ready for that . Air conditioning is another challenge There are no coffee for guests also . Water needs to be bought at vending Maschine Very difficult to communicate with staff or order food in English . We understand that this is china and we have to speak Chinese but the reason we choose 5star hotels is to have some one whom we can communicate with . Some good points to end my review , Decent breakfast and just close to main attractions
