Room was moldy

This is our 6th stay at Ibis Sheng Wanin the last 5 years. We were here this time for 17 nights. The last 2 visits we have seen a decline in the facilities. Our room had visible mold on the ceiling and walls in the main room and the hall. There was also mold in the bathroom. There were areas in the room that hadn't been dusted in months. I invited friends to join us at the Ibis and was afraid their room would be moldy as well. It was not. Accor has a policy that stays booked through a third party will not be given rewards. In the last year we have stayed 29 nights, with no rewards. Time to look for a new destination in Hong Kong.

Overpriced and unhelpful reservations/booking staff

Sadly due to a family emergency, we wanted to change our booking but their booking/reservations team was unhelpful and pretty much useless as we booked via hotels.com. We were expecting better flexibility from such a big hotel chain. The rooms are tiny and this hotel is overpriced. The lifts do not stop a certain floors and you have to change lifts to go to the ground floor! Their aircon system is very outdated and we had issues with the air being so dry that we had sore throats whilst staying there. They don't seem to a consistent pricing system aswell.

Dear Kevin C, Thank you for taking the time to write to us. It is with regret that you felt the hotel was not flexible with the reservation arrangement. We have several rate plans available for the hotel which may change over low and high demand periods and we suggest that you try to book as early as possible for the best price. Some are more heavily discounted pre-paid rates with the terms and conditions of no changes or cancellation. We do review all requests on a case by case basis. I would suggest that in the future you could try the “Flexible Rate” offer which allows you to cancel or change the booking up to 6 pm on the day prior to arrival. It is regretted that bookings made via third party agent may limit our flexibility of making amendments. We suggest reserve the rooms via our hotel website or directly with us to ensure better reservation arrangement. Apart from the City View Room, we also have larger Studio Rooms available that are 25 sqm for you to choose from. Both room types are equipped with large bay windows and timber flooring which give our guests a modern and inviting feel. For the elevator system, we understand some guests found interchanging lifts on the 5th floor may lead to inconvenience. Since the direction of the lift is restricted by the design and the building configuration of the hotel, it is regrettable that we are unable to make a change. However, please rest assured that we will review the level directory so as to indicate clearly the levels that can be reached by each lift. Please accept my apology regarding the air-conditioning. I have passed on your comments to the Engineering Team who will follow up with the staff. We do have air-purifiers available and you can feel free to call us for assistance next time. Dharamshala and not Hotel , Pathetic &Terrible

It is Dharamshala and not a hotel . Simply terrible and pathetic. They don't serve even water . There is one water cooler kept on 5th floor and guests have to go and refill themselves everytime on the 5th floor to refill water . Dirty rooms . We had booked it for 5 days and they don't do toiletries refill too. Torn towels kept . Noone in reception to hear you out . Fixed Breakfast menu and in veg have only super oily mini samosas kept . The rooms are super tiny , no space to keep suitcases too. There is no service as per the brand name and the money spend . Total waste of money.

Due to government regulations and as part of Accor’s sustainability commitment, the Hotel no longer placed single-use amenities, such as bottled water, toothbrushes, cotton buds, etc. in rooms from 22 April 2024 onwards. As you are aware there is a water dispenser station located on the 5/F, you are recommended to utilize the in-room kettle as an alternative should you wish not to visit the station. We apologize for the cleanliness and issues regarding the toiletries. Our housekeeping team is well-informed about your case and will follow up to ensure that such oversights do not occur in the future. Please rest assured this is a sole case that did not reflect our usual standard. Our Executive Housekeeper has noted your concern regarding the towel and while we continue to purchase new linen and towels on a regular basis, we will look into this issue. We have highlighted your comments to the Front Office Manager in which focus training will be conducted for our team members to ensure that our guests are given the highest quality of services. Our restaurant TASTE offers a satisfying buffet breakfast with food options rotating daily and ranging from local and Cantonese cuisines to Western and international selections. It is sorry to learn about your breakfast experience. We will be in review of the breakfast offer including the vegetarian options with the Food and Beverage Team. As you found the room too small for your liking, it is suggested that if you would prefer a more spacious room we do have Studio rooms available which are 25 sqm that may suit you better for your next stay with us. At ibis we offer an economic product with the best service and as such we do not offer the full range of facilities and amenities such as a shoehorn in the room. Apart from the items placed in the room, please feel free to refer to the service list placed below the TV for the items we could provide upon request. Busy hotel

The hotel is located in a central location close to the Macau Ferry Terminal. The hotel is a busy one always bustling with activity. The reception and cafe are on the 5th floor and the rooms on the higher floor. The rooms are small in size but have all amenities. Seating arrangement is just one chair. Bathrooms are also small in size but just fits everything. Wifi is good. Breakfast has a good spread and good. Overall its comfortable for a short stay.

The notel is nicely located very close to the Macao ferry terminal. Rooms are typical for IBIS brand, so no surprises there. Breakfast was reasonably priced at HK$ 99. The only reason there are no 5 stars is harbourview room I paid extra for. The windows are not fog-free so it was very difficult to see through. Unless one is comfortable with +25 inside the room, I wouldn't recommend to pay extra for the harbour view.
