You get what you pay for. Clean room and great breakfast. Toilets in the bar area need a big revamp and clean. Staff were very friendly and thank you Joanna for ensuring the room was decorated lovely for my fiances birthday. Thank you all for a great stay

Good Hotel with great Character but....

I chose this hotel whenever I am in the Stevenage area for work, there are other hotels closer but they dont have the character of the Hall and the rooms on the Great Hall side of the building. The Breakfast is fantastic and the evening meals are good. On this visit I noted a new system of telephoning to alert staff to check in (because of shortage of staff) - seemed OK. After a 4 hour commute I arrived at 10:30 and informed the Bar was open until 11:00 however at 10:40 is was closed. The next morning my booking was not on the breakfast roster, so had to check with reception. Hopefully this is just a result of staff shortages not the new normal.

Great stay, friendly staff, breakfast was fantastic lots of choice, bed was comfy, beautiful well maintained grounds, use of great gym, good walks for hiking and cycling, highly recommended many thanks

Stayed just one night, with work, but this hotel provide everything you need . Welcoming staff, Clean room but the best bit was the breakfast. Really good quality and tasty cooked breakfast, great coffee ( most of hotels serve a very poor breakfast coffee) , nice buffet with plenty of choices.

Brilliant staff, poorly maintained building

Arrived late Friday, left early Sunday. Staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful but they are being held back by a building that is in dire need of maintenance. Friends had a tissue holder fall off their wall, curtain rail in my room fell down, plug socket was loose in the wall, door card scanner was not properly installed so door did not insulate any outside noise. Give the staff a properly looked after hotel to work with and it would be a much better place to stay.
