Great experience overall, with some drawbacks. The hotel has a nice location by the river, but it isn't easy to get to by public transport. 2 metro stations are both 20 minutes walk away, including stairs in one instance. So arriving by taxi is advised if you're not up to lugging your luggage yourself. But when you leave there is a free shuttle service available. As to my stay i was most happy with the low season price of my room. This Ibis usually being one of the more expensive in central Bangkok. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. The room was compact and functional, but no less comfortable. I was also upgraded to a river view which was very nice, thank you, and made the stay all the more pleasant. I didn't include breakfast as there were plenty of food eateries on the main road outside. I did use the swimming pool which is quite large, clean and in pleasant situation. You can walk right down to the river itself. There's a massage gazebo there if you want to indulge. Other reasons chosen to stay here were as a base to visit Wat Arun / Wat Pho - both of which can be done by river boat. You then have the reverse problem of how to get to the station, although I suppose you could use the shuttle service if you thought about it. (Damn!). Icon Siam is also not far away. You could get a bus, or take a Grab. I left on Sunday morning to Go to Mo Chit Bus Station, which was 150THB on the meter and took about 30 minutes. May be handy to know if your heading that way.

A Complete Rip-Off – Stay Elsewhere!"** **Rating:** ★☆☆☆☆ (1/5) I recently stayed at **Ibis Bangkok Riverside** and was **shocked** by how poor the experience was, especially for the **5,500 THB per night** price tag. This is **not** a budget hotel’s cost—yet the quality was worse than many hostels I’ve stayed in. **What Went Wrong:** ✔ **Extremely Overpriced** – For **5,500 THB**, you can easily book a **4 or even 5-star hotel** in Bangkok (Avani, Novotel, or boutique riverside options). Instead, I got a **tiny, outdated room** with zero luxury. ✔ **Unpleasant & Unclean** – The room **smelled musty**, the AC was weak, and the bathroom was **cramped and poorly maintained**. ✔ **Missing Basics** – No toothpaste, toothbrush, or proper toiletries—just cheap wall-mounted soap. Even **300 THB hostels** provide more. ✔ **False Value** – This is **not** a "budget-friendly" Ibis. It’s an **overpriced, aging hotel** banking on its riverside location. **The Verdict:** If this hotel charged **1,500–2,000 THB**, it might be acceptable. But at **5,500 THB**, it’s a **complete scam**. **Avoid** and book a **real hotel** instead—you’ll get **10x better value** elsewhere.
