The motel was at about 10% capacity and they a. Put us in a room with a disabled bathroom… water went everywhere b. It was an interconnecting room with a young family with unsettled children… no fault of the family, we have all been there, but the noise came straight through the interconnecting door

Had a good 2 night stay, but upon arriving we were told the restaurant was shut. Your website made no mention of this and the reception or manager at the hotel gave us no prior warning. The reason we stayed there was to got to the restaurant both nights on our 2 night stay as the restaurant has an excellent chef.

Stayed in Feb it was amazing however this trip was very disappointing. We just wanted to eat dinner at elements and relax around the fire. I fully understand why the restaurant isn't open at this time. We collected drinks at 4pm and I said to Karen I was hoping the fire would be on. She said it's too early for that. We sat there until 520 still no fire. Another guest asked if the fire was on when checking in and she said I haven't gotten around to it yet. We asked for plate for our room and I stated the above about relaxing around the fire and Karen didn't respond so after asking this second time We went back to our room. At breakfast we looked and the fire place was set up exactly the same as the afternoon before so it obviously wasn't lit at all. We are shift workers so the little things are important when our rosters align and we get time off together. Probably doesn't sound like a big deal to some but our expectation was to stay again in winter and relax watching the beautiful fire. It's not that hard to light. I would if thought that 1 of the 3 staff on could have achieved this.

Booked 2 nights for myself and 2 children. Staff were friendly and grounds lovely with handy location to gardens. I booked the king suite as it was the only room with a kitchenette. Other than the microwave, there was no where to cook. Only one bowl provided. I asked the staff for extra but was not provided. Very small amount of kindling provided for fire and asked twice for additional before it was provided. Additional charge for linen for sofa bed was unexpected as not noted on the website or the reservation. It stated that linen was provided, not that there were additional costs for another set of linen. For a booking of 3 people, this should have been specified. Terrible smell in the room which seemed to have originated in the wardrobe and permeated through whole room. Smelled like a dead animal. Notified reception but had to remind them again to do something about it. Would have asked for a room move but were only there for one more night. Came back to room and air freshener had been sprayed but unsure if anything else had been done as under lying smell still present. Asked at reception, but they were unsure what if anything had been done due to change in shift. Was advised by housekeeping that there had been a mouse plague and it was likely that one or more had died on the room. She made comment that this was likely the cause when she came in even after having all windows and doors open to air out the room. Staff were nonchalant about my complaints in regards to this. Considering the cost of the accomodation I feel more should have been done.

Have stayed here many times and this time brought family from interstate. We had a lovely time however one of the rooms had no tea, coffee etc so they bought room service without knowing they could ask for tea and coffee. Room 903. They had their purchase refunded. Our room 902 was spotless and comfortable. Room 904 had no issues either other than the shower curtain being a tad short flooding the bathroom.

Very tired property - very poor value for money

Hi, stayed in one of your fireplace suites for 2 nights. Reception could not find our booking initially but that was sorted and these things happen. The room was not particularly clean and is extremely tired. The entire property is looking shabby. The bathroom in particular was so dated and in such poor condition e.g. rusty legs to the vanity that I was genuinely shocked. I wouldn't get in that spa bath if you paid me. Rubbish in the courtyard and torn curtains. Dinner for 4 people in the restaurant on the Friday night was uniformly described as some of the worst food any of us had ever eaten in a hotel restaurant. Lovely staff. Food at the wedding on the saturday was however good. Terribly property particularly for $400 plus a night. Plus telephone doesn't work. I told reception at least twice who weren't in the least bit interested.

Great location for a stay-cation

Hey Julie and all, Overall a pleasant stay-cation. Although limitations applied, due to covid, it was a much needed mini break. Notably, the maintenance department either needs more funding, hours, or replacement. Although not a major thing for me, those that are price sensitive may review this property harshly over silly things like; down lights out (reported after 1st night), cardboard placed into the gap of the tap (spa bath), screens needing adjustment to move smoothly, etc. In general HSK did an excellent job, though they did miss a few high up cobb webs. In general the front desk staff were lovely, though one needs a tad more training. My interaction with reservations though was great, prompt In responding and assisted with all queries. The highlight was the fire place in the room, and just the central location. You've got a great property!

Wining and Dining in the Hunter

Mecure Resort Valley Gardens although starting to show its age a bit is a straight forward studio style roomed hotel with drive up access to your room. The location is what gives this hotel its advantage by being central to a large number of wineries and restaurant's all within easy walking distance, when visiting wine country this removes the worry of driving, the hotel is even serviced by one of the popular gastro pubs courtesy bus. If simple clean accommodation with all the amenities is what you want in the Hunter then the Mecure Hunter Valley Gardens fits the bill. Just hope you get a room with an upgraded bed mattress as the old one we had was very hard/lumpy resulting in the last two nights being spent on the sofa bed as it was more supportive.
