Decent hotel, but let down by the road noise and uncomfortable bed.

The room was ugly and uncomfortable and I felt as though I were staying in some sort of prison. The bed was advertised to have a new, special mattress for added comfort but found that this was just a topper less than an inch thick and provided no added luxury. The bed itself made worrying noises everytime myself or my partner moved and felt as though it was so unstable that it might collapse. The room furniture was of poor quality as the bench provided in the room creaked upon sitting on it and we felt it was unsafe to use as a seat. The bathroom was hideous with 2 small towels provided and during the early morning a sewage smell was emanating from the bathroom which prevented us frim sleeping. This hotel was purpose built for guest convenience and yet there were no plugs at the bedside tables. I had to charge my phone on the floor on the opposite side if the room. Further, there was no antibacterual handsoap provided DURING A VIRAL PANDEMIC. We had a generic 'bubble wash' provided that unfortunately reacted badly with my skin and caused my face to swell and burn ( I have no previous history of skin allergies or reactions to hygiene products) Very little provision for room refreshment and had to repeatly go down to reception to request milk, tea, sugar and when requesting biscuits was told to walk to the local garage to purchase my own. Breakfast was awful!! I paid for a take-away breakfast for an additional fee and recieved a brown paper bag consisting of a coissant, a yogurt, juicebox and an apple. When I requested a hot breakfast we were given the option of an anemic sausage roll pastry or a small dry bun with bacon that frankly looked like a dog's chew toy. It was solid, inedible and looked as though it had been re-heated and deep fat fried several times. All this was an additional £1.50 per meal on top of breakfast fee. We couldn't wait to leave and found a better bacon bap at the local garage the following morning. Will not be returning to Ibis and will he deterring family and friends from considering Ibis in future.

Friendly staff. Average cleanliness and below average levels of luxury. Got disturbed at 10 AM by cleaning staff knocking on the door trying to get in although check out wasn't until 12 pm. A male guest should not have to shout through the door to prevent a cleaning woman from barging into his room when he is going into the shower!

For a no frills single night stay, I would recommend. Comfy & well appointed room. Strangely I could hear the wind blowing during the night, it appeared to be rattling around the corridors.

Hot and cold shower - Heating poor, kept cutting out, measured at 19'C and wouldnt go higher. Mattress and Pillows not Premier Inn standard, but for the cost I can cope with odd one night stays on my own for business. Wouldn't take partner there due to the standard of beds.

Clean room and good location for the M5 in Gloucestershire. My only gripe would be the lack of comprehensive control of the room temperature. On arrival it was really too warm in my room and the temperature controls were set not to go below 21 degrees, so I couldn't cool things down at all. Apart from that it was a good stay.

The receptionist on duty on Saturday night was brilliant - really warm hospitable welcome - please pass on my thanks. Room was brilliant value for money and cant fault my stay at all. The booking was last minute but that didnt cause any problems

Disappointing Breakfast

Breakfast is supplied as a takeaway in a paper carrier bag, along with a cup to take a drink (tea or coffee). No hot food. I questioned this, and was told “Covid”. I pointed out that Premier inn and Travelodge both offer hot, freshly cooked breakfast. That said, a good one-way system in place around entrance and reception areas. Pity some guests ignored it.
