The hotel itself is a beautiful facility with great potential, but unfortunately, the overall experience was negatively impacted by the behavior of some staff members. While a few individuals, such as Bassma and Giad, were exceptionally professional and welcoming, others—like Osama and Afaf—did not demonstrate the level of hospitality one would expect from such an establishment. Due to these inconsistencies in service, I would likely consider alternative accommodations on my next visit to Rabat.

I have been a guest at this hotel for several months now, and I find it absolutely outrageous that this place is marketed as a 5-star hotel. The experiences I have had here are simply unacceptable. I am not exaggerating, and I will try to remain respectful and objective. I don’t even know where to start because there are so many points to criticize, but let’s begin with the rooms and the general architecture. I have to be honest—overall, I find the hotel’s design nice and appropriate. However, quality is more important to me than appearance, and there is barely any quality to be found here, whether in the rooms or the food. Many things are broken. The elevator has a mind of its own, working only when it feels like it. I have stayed in multiple rooms since my arrival, and there hasn’t been a single room where everything worked properly. Sometimes the lights don’t work or they flicker. Sometimes the water doesn’t run, or the shower is broken. I have had to replace the mini fridge three times. The TV is a disaster, constantly freezing. In general, these things wouldn’t be a problem—mistakes happen. However, I would expect these issues to be fixed when reported. But nothing happens. And if a technician finally comes after calling multiple times, the issue is back the next day. As I said, I am not exaggerating. For a so-called 5-star hotel, this is truly frustrating, especially considering the prices. Now, let’s talk about the food. The food here is a disaster. I don’t want to be disrespectful, but sometimes it feels like the chef is not a 5-star chef but rather someone they just picked up from the street. The menu is very limited, and the taste is unbearable. That’s why I constantly have to order food from outside. Even when I order food from the hotel, something is always missing when it arrives. In 7 out of 10 times, something is either missing or prepared incorrectly. Sometimes, when I order just a spoon, I have to wait up to an hour. Especially at night, the room service is a catastrophe—you can wait up to three hours for food. And when you complain, the excuse is, “We don’t have enough staff.” Well then, I would recommend hiring more staff because it cannot be that I fall asleep before my food even arrives. For a 5-star hotel, this is very frustrating. The restaurants aren’t much better either. Now to the service, which is also very disappointing. If you call any department from the room phone, you better make sure you have 15 minutes to spare because that’s how long it takes for someone to pick up. Not always, but often. Especially at night, you’re lucky if someone answers at all. Some employees on the phone don’t even seem to understand what friendliness means. Most of my complaints here are similar to what I mentioned about the food—everything takes forever. You wait hours to receive something, and getting someone to pick up the phone is a struggle. The staff at the main entrance seem to be there just for decoration. Some don’t even acknowledge you when you greet them. They don’t open the door for you, nor do they open car doors, even though that’s part of their job description. They just stand there. Many employees don’t even speak English, which makes communication extremely difficult in an international hotel chain. There is one positive thing about the service: there are some very kind and warm-hearted employees who welcome me with a smile. But then, there are also employees who ask me to leave them a good review, who ask me to order food for them, who enter my room and ask if I can give them my PS5, or who ask if they can have the snacks provided by the hotel. Completely shameless—especially in a 5-star hotel. Unfortunately, kindness alone doesn’t help me when my expectations aren’t met. I often feel that when you treat staff with kindness, they become even more shameless, which is a shame because I always try to remain friendly, unlike other guests who spit on the floor and throw tantrums over the smallest things. The hotel also has other facilities like the gym and spa. In my opinion, the gym is a bit too small, but that’s a matter of personal preference. It’s still functional. My experience at the spa, however, was disappointing. When I saw the certificate for the “Best Spa Award in Morocco,” I was surprised. I had a one-hour appointment, but for 30 minutes of that time, the therapist wasn’t even in the room—she was doing something else. For the price, that is completely unacceptable. Furthermore, the hotel provides nothing to the guests—whatever you may need, you won’t find it here. There is so much more I could mention, but this review is already getting too long, and some issues would just overlap. My point with this review is that if nothing changes, I am convinced that this hotel should lose its 5-star status. I have heard multiple times that Sofitel used to be a 5-star hotel—the keyword here is used to be. The owner clearly doesn’t care about anything, just pockets the money and leaves everything to the staff. Overall, the hotel seems completely unorganized and overwhelmed, which is ultimately not even the workers’ fault. Someone needs to take over this place and restore it to a hotel that actually deserves the 5-star title. This is my appeal! If nothing is done, things will only continue to go downhill.
