Aparthotel Adagio Marseille Prado Beach

We gladly booked a one night stay here for the rugby an easy 30 min walk away in the Orange Velodrome. Location was our only concern which was handy as the hotel resembled 1980s student halls. First the positives... onsite car park, great views, friendly staff, nice breakfast, clean, nice local area. And there it ends. An odd partial refurb had occurred- new sink, old loo. New headboard, old kitchen cabinets. Fresh painted welcome wall with logo, rusty old balconies and pillars missing paint. Very peculiar. Our chums had a constant drip of water through the ceiling and the solution offered was to lay a towel on the floor. I was lucky enough to have visited the Eastern Bloc before the fall of the Soviet Union so I could appreciate this hotel... my friends however were slightly shell shocked.

Stayed in this hotel in June 22. Have to admit that my first impression was student halls but we adapted well. The apartment was small but very clean. We had one bedroom but only big enough to house twin beds and a bedside table and a lamp. The beds were very comfortable. There was a separate toilet and a small bathroom with a over bath shower. I first thought that the bath was not clean but it was just here the enamel had worn away. There was a small kitchenette with cooker, fridge and dishwasher. We didn’t use it except for tea and coffee as we had B&B which was good the lady in the dining room was very friendly and was happy to help. We ate out for dinner. There is a table and chairs and a sofa bed in the living area plus a tv. The balcony was big and facing the sea which was nice with lovely views over the bay. There were patio table and chairs. If you are staying less than 8 days you won’t get room service but will provide it at an extra cost. There is a free safe deposit in all rooms. I think this is because of covid. There is free WiFi and a safety deposit box. There is no hairdryer in the rooms but you can get one from reception at no cost if you ask. Reception were ok but didn’t speak much English but we were in France after all so got by. The pool is small but nice the only thing is that there is no seating around the pool. Most people were just sitting on the decking on towels. The hotel is just 5 minutes from the beach. The only thing is that it was not Sandy but stony and gritty not good for making sand castles. There are no sun beds or parasols to hire, and very little shade. There is a Sandy beach further down the bay about 10 mins walk. There are restaurants close by but also more on the Sandy beach which is lovely. Also a good supermarket near too. You can get a bus into the city on the road next to the hotel the No 83 is €2 per person each way along the coast to the marina. I have to say that the external walls of the hotel need to be tidied up they look very tired. A lick of paint is needed badly, and maybe the rooms brought up to date a little. Maybe the hotel group could invest some funds into doing this. All in all we had a good stay but it could have been better. Thank you to all staff the made our stay comfortable.

2nd time we stay there. Too bad that the external aspect of the building (due to defects) is poor as the bedroom is really large, well furnished and mattresses very comfy. Good location closed to the beach, supermarket, restaurants without nuisances of a huge touristic street.

We chose this hotel as we were searching for a family friendly place near the beach. We were traveling with 2 kids (3yrs and 1 yr old). The sandy beach was within a short walking distance. Nearby some playgrounds and park Borély. Restaurants, Supermarket and pharmacy almost around the corner but still quiet at night. Good connection to the city with the bus 83 , beautiful way along the coast. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful, they have a 24hr reception. The room and the bathroom were clean and nicely decorated. Balcony with a nice view. Breakfast was good quality and with a variety of food for everyone ( fresh orange juice, yoghurt, egg machine, small but good cheese and meat choice, Marmelade etc. - our children were happy). They have a children’s corner at the entrance. Everything pushchair- friendly. It was too cold to use the swimming pool ( April) but it looked invitating. We stayed 3 nights ; cleaning ladies dont Come everyday and you don’t get a new towel everyday( you pay extra if you need to refresh your room; for us it wasn’t necessary). Air conditioning in the room works just fine. The hotel needs some new paint from the outside but from the inside it is modern and clean. The internet is limited or you pay extra. The price was higher than other hotels with simmilar or a bit better standard. To sum up we were pretty happy with the stay, and would recommend it for families.

We stayed at the Adagio, needing to be close to the beach and finding limited choices and even more limited availability. This is a hotel apartment, like an extended stay, so there are kitchens, but no regular room service unless you pay. Towels are scarce so either bring your own or stock up early. We were with other travelers and the experience with the hotel really depended on the room. It is far from the "youth hostel" negative reviewers mention, but it's no 4 star resort either. We were given a room with a queen bed. The room was spacious, clean, and while basic in its furnishings, functional. The kitchenette was clean and while we only used the fridge, everything else looked serviceable. The only issue we faced was a remote control with dead batteries, no iron, and the balcony, which desperately needed some tlc. The staff was very helpful, providing a hair dryer for our entire stay and offering help with where to eat or catch the bus. Pool was clean and cool on a hot day. But again, no towels. Based on reviews I read here, I was pleasantly surprised. Our companions had a slightly more unpleasant stay. They received rooms with pull out couches only, no beds, which was uncomfortable. Some rooms had sporadic air conditioning and broken items such as the shower head. It appeared to be a roll of the dice as far as cleanliness. Some floors were spotless, others not so much. Overall I lucked out and had a good experience, but it could have easily gone the other way it seems. My advice would be to state clearly your room request as far as sleeping arrangements and try switching rooms if you get one of the duds. There aren't a whole lot of choices in this particular area, so this is still a solid option.
