Nice stay, but F&B and service need improving

We had a short trip to Dongguan and stayed at this Pullman hotel. Excellent location with easy assessibility to many things around. It's more like a resort hotel but unfortunately some rooms/facilities were closed for maintenance. We planned to book an executive room and got an answer from the hotel that the executive floor was closed for refurb. In general it was a comfortable stay. If you plan to have some outdoor time by the pool and a relaxing stay, this is a good choice. But dont expect too much from F&B and service. The room we stayed at had a bit of history already but it was all very clean and spacious. Gym facilities and outdoor/indoor pools and hot tubs were some highlights of this hotel. F&B and service were somewhat dissapponting and didnt live up to the Pullman standard. A few details: 1. We saw the Japanese restaurant's All-You-Can-Eat dinner promotion pretty much everywhere in the hotel so went in person to book a table. Was told it wasn't served although it was promoted everywhere. When asked why it wasnt available while the poster of this deal was RIGHT OUTSIDE their door, we were told it just wasnt served, without other explanations. 2. Lunch buffet served at the Melody Lounge was not bad, however quite a few hot dishes served on food counter were cold already. 3. Hotel has a British-themed pub, but the only music they played there was Cantonese/Mandarin songs, which was okay but one would expect a British pub to be a little more "British"... 4. At the gym reception, when we asked for a towel, we were given a hand towel and told by receptionist that they "ran out of big towels" for shower and for outdoor sun lounges, and were further told that if we still insisted on wanting big towels, we should call hotel housekeeping and ask for towels OURSELVES - because as a hotel gym, they "were not allowed" to ask for towels even though they ran out of them in the gym. It was somewhat ridiculous. Still, after we insisted and questioned why the gym couldn't just make the call, they kindly did it and requested 2 towels. On a positive note: Thanks Minty at front desk for quickly processing our check-in and being friendly, professional and always ready to help. And thanks for the girl who went to our room to double-check room cleanliness before we got there. Also we really appreciate it a lot for the hotel's kindness to extend our check-out time so we wouldn't have to wait for a few hours at the lobby for our ride to arrive.

I had a very good experience with Pullman Forum Hotel in Dongguan. Leo at the front desk was very professional and helpful. I asked for an upgrade and since the hotel was not really full and Leo gave me the upgrade since I am a member of the Accor Hotels Group and I really appreciated that, it made my stay very enjoyable. I also ate in most of the restaurants at the hotel, Japanese, Chinese and the buffet breakfast every morning was pretty good. I would stay at this hotel again definitely when I am in Dongguan again and hope Leo will still be there.

I went to Dongguan for a few days since I haven't been there for over 10 years and wanted to see how it has grown. Dongguan is a nice city with a lot of malls and restaurants and even a street they call the bar street where it is behind the Pullman Forum hotel. What I experienced at the Pullman were outstanding service and a great front office staff named Leo. When I check-in, I saw the hotel was not particularly full and since I booked the executive room, I asked if I can have an upgrade as I am also a member of the Accor Hotels which Pullman is associated with. Without great fanfare, he upgraded me to a junior suite or a suite, the room was really clean and spotless. I ate at most of their restaurants at the hotel, Japanese, Chinese for dim sum, their buffet breakfast that came with the room, and also their very nice bar. Leo was very helpful whenever I asked him to find me a taxi since the Pullman Forum is kind of inside the streets and you have to drive into the parking lot with a lot of trees for shades, I really want to point out that Leo, don't really know his title, he only had a name tag that he wears on his jacket made my stay very pleasant and enjoyable, other staff at this Pullman hotel were also all very pleasant. After I checked out and had left some laundry in the room, they called me straight away and asked if I wanted to pick it up since I only left the hotel a few minutes before. There's a big park next to the Pullman, one of the attractions of Dongguan, and hiking trails up to a small mountain within the hotel. The hotel has everything you may need, a swimming pool, gym, sauna/massage, banquet or business meeting facilities. I will stay at this hotel without a doubt the next time I am in Dongguan. Just hope Leo will still be there.

still my first choice for Dongguan - but starting to fade

Really a great facility but starting to show a bit of wear. Staff skills not what they were a few years ago. The breakfast buffet also heading down the slippy slope. Yet with the rooms facing the mountain the Pullman is still far more pleasant "home" in Dongguan than the Kande or Sheraton -

Overall no real complaints, trusted hotel, helpful when needed. I've been to this hotel 3 times and now i'm starting to feel like this place needs to be remodeled and made to look more modern. Service is nice but i sometimes have a hard time communicating as there can be a lack of english speaking workers and also my lack of mandarin. Main Bar area is large which is great for big groups, you feel really comfortable and i've always had someone approach me within 2 minutes. Overall nice hotel, breakfast is great! and the foot message is awesome, I believe I only paid $15 USD for 1 hour in a private room, it was great!
