No details of any facilities given at check in. Apparently, Jordan the "reception supervisor" said that wasn't part of check in, we just had to keep asking and find out as we went along apparently.. Stayed in a lot of hotels and first one that has had that attitude. Weren't told about different key cards needed for room pool and gym, so stupidly we just thought cards weren't working?! No towel provided at pool. Had to take room ones then keep asking for new towels for room. . Pool only open till 4pm which is rediculous as if you are out for day, you e no chance of using pool.pool bags for wet costumes empty, and despite raising with Reception on 1st day, nothing done and still no bags on last day!! Felt like we were treated like 2nd class citizens and for money paid, we should have opted for a travel lodge! Certaunly won't be returning

My hubby and I stayed at the Mercure for 2 nights and I was looking forward to going home from the moment we entered the foyer. Staff were abrupt and the majority gave the impression that they didn’t want to be there. The first room we were shown had stains on the carpet and hairs on the pillow. In fairness, once I showed the photos to the receptionist we were moved to another room. On the one evening we had dinner, both the service and food were poor and staff didn’t care that it wasn’t eaten. I then had to go in search of someone tending the bar in order to pay the bill as the waiting staff were too busy hosting a private party. I would not recommend this hotel nor stay there again.

Doors of rooms not sound insolated. Mould in shower. Tired bed. We asked for twin beds but got kingbed room as according to person at reception the twin bed rooms were basic. Breakfast not up to so called 4 stars. STICKY FLOORS in the bar and breakfast room.

Perfect for a meeting that was located nearby. Room spacious and comfortable. Breakfast offering very good with quality food. Service of colleagues very good and bar area and restaurant well decorated with nice atmosphere.

We stayed before an early flight the next day, had a lovely time out in Bristol but needed a fairy early night. We booked well in advance and were on the 4th floor. There was an organised party (allowed by the hotel) on the 5th floor that went on until midnight very loud music played until then that could clearly be heard in our room. Why would the hotel have such a blatanr disregard for their guests? It's a hotel where people sleep, some people go to hotels with the idea of relaxing or like ourselves use it on the way to somewhere, it's not like we're booking a nightclub and should expect this. Why were these people allowed to book a party in a hotel? Why be so disrespectful to people in general the organisers know it's a hotel but probably don't care which is a problem with society in general enabled by this hotel. All involved should be ashamed of themselves. We've wasted money at a time where you have to choose carefully what you spend money on, I will never use this chain of hotels again.
