Mercure Oxford Eastgate Hotel 4 stars

Ask for a room with a good view. Also, if you don't want to spend all your time going through a maze of steps, etc. - tell them - so, that you can get a room closer to one of the exits. We had to go down the entire length of the hotel (from the street side) to get in/out. Took a while.

Great location, in the centre of Oxford. Limited overnight parking available for £20. We didn’t eat dinner in the Brasserie but breakfast was nice. A good choice of food available as a buffet. Relaxing lounge area with a nice bar. Lovely, friendly staff. The room was very pleasant and tastefully decorated. Comfy big bed, tea and coffee available in the room and a good choice of toiletries. Windows that open, even on the top floor. Nice bathroom with a good double shower. Not 5* opulence but 5* for cleanliness and friendliness. Had everything we needed and would definitely stay again

We went on a Saturday night recently, popped in to make sure they had room for us 2 prior to visit. On arrival the menu was reduced in variation, and when we aske if we could have 1 of the 3 mains we were told it wasn't available, we said we'd come back another time, and oddly the dish we wanted was suddenly available, crazily served up within 10 minutes, so wasn't fresh cooked Beef Bourgignon, will we go back? No

I had specified names for all my guests in advance but this was not passed onto the front desk. Front desk knowledge of parking restrictions & driving in the restricted areas was limited. Room was not clean, dark hairs in shower. Very noisy room, could hear every noise from the road

Good location for a one night weekend break. Room in the new building very comfortable with shower (no bath). Breakfast adequate. Staff friendly. Disappointed to see poor old Marco Pierre White renegated to a make shift dump outside our bedroom window. We found it funny and couldn't be bothered to complain but others most definitely would!
