Whilst there was no white christmas at The Francis, the warmth of the welcome more than made up for this. The beautifully decorated Christmas Tree herlded a welcome back that exceeded our expectations - despite visiting on occasions before. After 45+ years my wife and I decided that instead of vainly trying to find innovative gifts that the other may not appreciate, far better to stay at the Francis. A beautiful room, a parking place (what a treat in a busy Bath!) a suoerb dinner in the Brasserie, a friendly g & t after the Theatre, many little treats scattered around and then a more than satisfying breakfast - the only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Wedding anniversary in January - guess where we will be.

The customer service was excellent at all levels, at a very busy time of the year. This was particularly true when our new Philip TV, it refused to pick-up any signals at 8pm in the evening. Your lovely staff tried to fix the problem, but could not. The pickup point; they seriously tried to sort out the problem at 8pm on a Sunday evening. A special thank you for staff contacted out hours of work and a special thank you for the free hot chocolate it was lovely. The room spacious and well laid out. The design and decoration of the room was very much in line with Bath. The only issue was the smoke detector, it was covered in masking tape. Which I assumed was left over from the decorators. However it should have been checked, I informed the lovely lady on reception. As we were only staying one night it was not a major issue. Being able to park your car in bath is special, and thank you to the staff member that help us with the parking and his local knowledge. The location is excellent for the area, it is in walking distance for everything. Thank you for an excellent 50th and 60th birthday in Bath at the Christmas market and the lovely bottle of Champagne.

The location and overall set up of your hotel is very good. Your staff were excellent; professional and very helpful. You fell down on details. We booked a 'superior' room, which for us, v was an extravagance. We were in room 16. The room was very cold and the heating was insufficient. We were provided with an extra radiator which helped but this shouldn't be necessary. The corridor was cold and the door poorly sealed. We spoke to another guest who complained to us of the same problem. The TV in the room was rubbish. The remote control worked on and off. The channel guide on the TV set wasn't functioning. Travelodge provide much better TV sets. I shouldn't be able to say that. The number of pods provided with the coffee machine was mean. We had milk on our first day but the supply was not replenished on our second day. These details which are small and certainly didn't stop us enjoying our stay but they did take the shine off the experience.

For location the Francis was ideal as it was practically at the beginning of the market. I would definitely stay again however I would book a larger room next time as the lead in rooms are quite small, however bathrooms were a good size. Although in the centre slept well as quiet.

Reception staff were lovely and room was nice. However breakfast was a terrible experience; we had to ask 3 times for our coffee, hot food ran out, staff were rude (including the duty manager) and when we went to get cereal our table was given away. We spoke to hotel duty manager who was lovely but she said we would get our breakfast refunded, this has not happened

Hotel perfectly located. Comfortable bed and pillows. Room a bit dusty - wrote dust me on bed side table. Carpet needed hoovering too. Disappointed to be asked to move car before we actually left Bath. Paid for two overnight car parking in the end but had to persuade manager to allow us. There were no spaces in the public car parks left. We were not informed of this on arrival.

Staff were consistently helpful and friendly. Mince pies at reception were a nice touch! Room was comfortable, nice bed with great linen. The only slight disappointment was the breakfast. The food quality was fine but pricey for what it is, staff seemed confused and were running around. Overall, great experience with my stay and very happy with the location also.

Some friends of mine from overseas were staying one night and needed a hotel with a car park so I had recommended the Francis. I live about 10 miles out of Bath so booked myself in as a surprise to spend breakfast and the next morning with them. My room overlooked Queen Square but was fairly quiet. My friends loved it and would stay again. The items provided in the room were fine and the breakfast was lovely.

Check in and out was smooth. Room clean and comfortable, 119 has always been our favourite room. Breakfast was enjoyable, except for the last of the three when the previously superb scrambled eggs were rubbery and tasteless. Different chef presumably!

Staffing seemed more stretched and sketchy that previous stays. No recognition of several previous stays when booking in, not the same instantaneous attention when first parking outside. Room was comfortable and nothing needing attention during the three days. Good service at lunchtime from the bar staff.
