Relaxing stay at a good value hotel. We stay here often and have never been let down. even though there was a wedding on during our first night this didn't disturb our stay. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area or looking for a cheaper option for Oxford.

I read lots of reviews on this hotel prior to arrival and I was a little worried we had not made the right choice. Our decision to stay was definitely the right one. The hotel may not be flashy but the staff and their service was far more valuable. The breakfast was great, so much to choose from and the situation of the hotel right in the middle of everywhere. Lots of different restaurants to choose from as well as plenty of shops.

This hotel needs serious money to upgrade it. Bedrooms definitely need work, it's very tired Staff working hard to get everything right, but short staffed due to being Pinged for Covid contact.. Booked and pre paid for a meal but restaurant had been booked out for a party. Duty manager arranged for us to use at the bar meal area with complimentary drinks. The poor staff where running around trying to keep everyone happy as they had a serious staff problem. Breakfast good, bed good, but the bedroom and bathroom needs dosh spent on them. This is a lovely looking Hotel but with the likes of Premier Inn not far away, they need to up their game on the accommodation front. On check out, the poor receptionist had a dodgy PC so they were managing with one. Come on Accor, give these small Hotels a up lift , your a big international company. The lovely hard working staff are your best asset.

Dirty smelly bath mat, took 3 attempts to get it replaced, receptionist not helpful. 1st morning no cold water, toilet not flushing. £14.90 for 2 baileys coffee, rip off. 2nd morning no hot water for shower.

Visit to son and family - 1st hotel stay since pandemic.

Hotel looking very tired and rooms likewise with stains on furniture and carpets. Bathroom old-fashioned and uninviting with very slow drainage for shower over bath.Breakfast was luke warm toasters u/s.

Firstly the receptionist sent us in completely the wrong direction to find our room .lugging a heavy case up and down stairs after a long journey is no fun..Then a gentleman took over but even he lost the way finding the room. The restaurant menu is very poor, reminiscent of a motorway service area. Here the staff are untrained and needed guidance from ourselves .There is obviously a lack of training here. Breakfast was very good but on checking out we were not told that the barrier needed a code. Again down to training.

Felt standards had slipped since our last visit 3 years ago. All looking a bit shabby and room in need of some basic maintenance. Disappointed with the evening menu, very limited and basic and they had lost our table reservation. If staying again would not choose to eat there. Cooked breakfast standard also mediocre, scrambled egg uneatable.

Very tired room, dreadful shower. Staff didn't know what was going on in the hotel with regard to meal availability and room servicing. Clearly the hotel has a pest problem with pigeons which meant I couldn't leave my window open so the room was too warm and lots of droppings outside on window sill.

An old style, character filled hotel that could do with some updating. Our visit was during hot weather and the small, cowled fan provided, was inadequate, (no air conditioning). Also the window had restricted opening, (health & safety?). The bedroom carpet was stained and appeared dirty. Otherwise the cleanliness was reasonable. The waiter service to the lawn area took a long time despite few people there and placing our order with the Receptionist. The food menu was limited, (especially for vegetarians), and the dish ordered, unavailable. In consequence we ate elsewhere. Otherwise, a good location with very pleasant gardens. Suggestions: 1. Air conditioning / pillar fans. 2. A disclaimer to sign to allow the window to be fully opened. 3. Carpets deep cleaned to remove stains or replaced. 4. Retraining of waiting staff. 5. A menu revision.

Hotel is in a lovely old building, nice central location. Reception staff were good, but no hotel information in the room, pretty average bed, toilet didn't flush, cold shower because I didn't have time to work out the controls. This is a general beef: why do so many hotels and tap designers think "style" of taps is more important than ease of use? Breakfast staff gave no information about how the Covid safe buffet works, so guests were left to work it out on their own.

Due to COVID, we have removed many touch points around the hotel, in particular the bedrooms to ensure guests safety. there is a welcome letter in every bedroom that explains what measures we have put into place to ensure guest safety such as removing guest directories and menus however it explains should you require anything at all during your stay to contact reception who would be happy to assist. We do also have an APP for the hotel which is advertised in all bedrooms, reception and public areas for guests to download which has our full hotel information, guests directory, menus and the ability to order food and drink from. I will raise your feedback with our Food & Beverage Manager in regards the explaining our breakfast service to ensure that all guests fully understand and feel comfortable during breakfast. Superb service from everyone we met here. Smiling helpful and chatty. We were the only people in the restuarant for dinner, the waiter was superb and the food excellent. It was just a one night stay as we had a delivery to make the next morning but would seem to be an ideal location for a stay in the Cotswolds. Considering a longer stay once Covid restrictions are removed.

Stayed for only one night which was a blessing. The rooms were very cramped and in need of modernisation. The evening meal was very poor. Breakfast was decent. The staff were attentive and helpful but this hotel is in desperate need of some TLC. We won't be going back.

Customer service blunder

I was coming to Banbury for a course that got postponed due to coronavirus a few days before travel restrictions were imposed generally in Europe. The airline refunded my non refundable ticket outright, but this hotel refused even to let me change the dates of my stay...because they weren't legally obligated to. I contacted Accor customer service, who were also surprised by their inflexibility and contacted them on my behalf. No, they refused to budge. It was their right. *stomps foot petulantly* I wasn't seeking a refund, mind you, just a chance to move the dates when my course got rescheduled. Given the extraordinary circumstances, if they felt that moving the dates was unfair to them or to someone who paid for flexible dates, they could have offered me a partial credit on my next stay, or at least offered to cancel the dinner reservations I'd paid for in advance. I understand that they were within their legal rights to inflexibly enforce our contract, but they also have the power to make an exception when there's an international crisis afoot. I love Accor hotels and was really, really looking forward to staying in this hotel for a few nights, so it pains me to say that I almost certainly will not be staying with them when my course in Banbury is rescheduled.... unless they somehow come to their senses and try to fix this customer service blunder.

I haven't stayed at the hotel for a number of years and forgot the wonderful facade facing the road belies a modern block behind. The carpets in the public areas were threadbare and whilst the staff were pleasant enough the hotel is urgently in need of some investment.

excellent service as always, very festive and very convenient for the sales in the main town. Family live local too so is very convenient. Euan on reception was excellent as well as Lynne and Emma in housekeeping, as ever.

Executive room was very spacious and comfortable. Bed very comfortable. We appreciated the street view. Stunning garden at the back with a fantastic view while having breakfast. Breakfast very good quality although frustratingly had to wait 8 minutes for the fried eggs to be brought out. Although there was a wedding going on, the Reception service was good, but not in the bar in the evening. We gave up waiting to be served and went elsewhere for a drink. The restaurant was not open throughout the day due to the wedding. The location was excellent extremely close to the shops, pubs and restaurants.

Very Poor quality Hotel in desperate need of renovation. The room was very poor with wallpaper comimgo ff walls. Toilet would not flush properly and Room cold with v.noisy pipework, Room at top of stairs on second floor no help offered with luggage. Restaurant and bar shut do to functions - not advised no food available when booked
